Awards shows for the entertainment industry have taken it on the ratings chin over the past few years with declining viewers. The Golden Globes could be a bellwether of whether any of its new changes can turn things around and get viewers to tune back. To give you an idea, the audience for the 2023 Academy Awards were an improvement from the year before - to the third worst ever. And other awards show broadcasts have seen mixed results: the Grammys saw a 31% increase, while the Emmys dropped an all-time low. While some may make light of this, the changes go back to the most basic sales rule: It’s about what the prospect needs, not about what you need. For its part, this year's version of the Golden Globes will have new award categories as well as a new host, a new network, new owners, and a new voting body. The transformation comes in response to ongoing criticism over the lack of diversity within its voting body. Think about that. In a changing world, the awards have become, well, unrelatable for most. We may watch the shows and the movies, but at a time when many Americans are living paycheck to paycheck, it may seem excessive to some to give away a gift bag that is worth more than double the salary of the average American. And people likely don't want to be reminded of that over and over again for the next three hours. Then there's the nominees themselves. One of the reasons why revamping the voting body had to be done was that people didn't recognize the films and shows being recognized, creating a disconnect between what people love and the content nominated for awards. If people don't recognize nor relate to them, they might be less likely to watch it. Historically, the Oscars have had this problem especially in the "Best Picture" category where there's a divide between prestige movies and mainstream tastes. Remember "Spotlight" and "The Artist", among others? They won, but few had actually seen them. When all is said and done, none of these changes may make a difference for the Golden Globes and these other awards shows for one simple reason: the way we watch television has changed significantly. The shift from network TV and cable to streaming services has been a major change, and our ever-changing interests no longer include awards shows. The Golden Globes are giving it the old college try and willing to change, and that by itself deserves its own award https://lnkd.in/gPq2encN #goldenglobes #entertainment #movies #film #television #streaming

Gary Littman and I go… no… I won’t say how many years. Ok I will say it: 27 years! Well, this gem of an actor can do it all, dance , sing, act and is also a Live Action dubber who can take on the rythmo band like second nature. Go listen to his voice. The warmth and reassurance are timeless… Love you old friend! #audio #audioproduction #audiorecording #dubbingsoftware #dubbingstudio #dubbing #localization #recordingstudio #voiceactor #voiceacting #voiceovers #dubbingartist #dubbingactor #lipsync #postproduction #recording #scriptmanagement #VoiceQ #disney
Could not be more excited to share and so honored to have gotten to do the English dub as Karl in this phenomenal 6 part series coming out on Hulu 6/7! Grateful to my agents at Atlas Talent, producers at Disney, engineers and staff at NYAV Post and especially the brilliant directors Stephanie Sheh and Michael Sinterniklaas. Grateful all!

People are impressed by awards. At the very least many believe someone must be good at something if they have won an award! However, many of the awards in the consumer and business worlds are not as they may first appear. Perhaps the most aggressive and well-known of the *Iffy* corporate awards schemes in the UK are The "Prestige Awards". They work hard to break away from this image and have plenty of keen buyers who are happy to take the wins and fight their side, but a "vanity scam" of "pay to win" awards is still what it is. That said, I think the word "scam" is a bit of a misnomer. These "pay to win" awards are clearly now part of today's (almost) accepted fake-it-till-you-make-it world. If there's a scam being run there, it's not by those who sell the awards, so much as by those who pay for the award package and pretend that it means something. Having just been through the film festival application process and circuit I am more than aware that there is a whole series of fake or dodgy festivals out there. I reckon 50% of the festivals on there are simply running to raise money for their organizers and don't give a toss for the #filmmakers. Some don't run at all, but just pretend to. A good chunk of them are clearly "pay to win" with individual categories in such a multitude that you can more or less buy your way into extremely high odds of winning - some of these festivals run as often as once a week! I shit you not... I'll do a show on dodgy film festivals as part of my Film Pro Productivity & Success podcast. I think I managed to avoid them with The Traveller, but the experience of applying for and communicating with festivals was a particularly "scammy" one. With all THAT said, what ESPN has been up to since 1997 is a whole new level of #Crazy! Check this out from #NateTheLawyer on YouTube to hear the whole story. https://lnkd.in/eskkCUdi
