Celebrating one year of Growth and Transformation! Today marks a significant milestone in my professional journey, where I joined as a Senior Executive CPS International Delivery . Over the past years, I've poured my heart and soul into this role, tackling challenges with unwavering dedication and honesty. Through thick and thin, I've persevered, never giving up. 💫 Life is unpredictable, constantly changing and evolving, and it's essential to stay positive no matter what comes your way. Just as CPS International was thriving, market dynamics began to shift, leading to instability. It was a challenging time, but it also presented an opportunity for growth. I was given the chance to expand my horizons and work in the domestic sector. Faced with the choice of staying in my comfort zone with CPS International or embracing the unknown in CPI, CPL, and I Gaming domestically, I chose the path of growth. Starting from scratch, I have spent the past three months learning new skills, overcoming insecurities, and pushing myself beyond my limits. I'm grateful for this journey and the incredible opportunities! Congratulations to “SWCC Class 129” 🇺🇸⚓️👏🤘🏼🚀💥💣🧨💪🏼 Go forward and do great things with cutting-edge platforms and technology, integrate with SOF’s finest entities, and always be ready to bring offense/defense to our oppositions and back safely to your families! Here are five pointers for new SWCCs: 1.) Be Aggressive. Become the hardest worker in the Detachment: Raise your hand for every opportunity you can physically, mentally, and emotionally can handle. 2.) Own your 3ft of space: whatever your jobs or responsibilities are, crush it! Professionalize, organize and be squared away in every dimension of that job or responsibility. Example: If you are a Gunner like most new SWCCs are, become the most skilled and respected Gunner in the Troop. 3.) Keep your priorities/values in check: Mine were always God, Health, Family, Team, and Mission. The others are all interchangeable next to God, always the highest priority. The tricky part is figuring out which one at that given moment is the most important. However, they must all be prioritized to be successful in the long term. 4.) Human Performance is the Foundation of success for every Special Operator: It will produce a career with longevity for every Tactical Athlete. Don’t ever get “Complacent” with your Training. If you do, it will be transferred over Tactically and in everything else you do. 5.) Respect yourself, respect your leaders, respect your subordinates, and your teammates. If you have a problem with somebody, get to know them better! Find common ground, and find a way to respect each other. Lastly, be proud of your hard work, community heritage, and the freedom to do God's work so American citizens can continue to enjoy their daily freedoms. 🇺🇸

I’m sharing how I met Philip Wright. Why? Well, his #petinsurance company Tailtrust could use some amplification. But that’s not really why. And yes InsureTech Connect could use (yet another) shout out. But that’s not it either. Backstory: I was waiting atop the escalator for Meredith Barnes-Cook, my fabulous helpful always-finds-time-for-me friend. Along comes the irrepressible Tony Cañas who I’ve known and loved since his early Insurance Nerds days. Talking with Tony. From the up-escalator comes a man who is politely eager to speak with him. That man was Philip Wright. Here’s what I heard and why I’m sharing: ⭐️Gratitude Philip, an actuary/entrepreneur thanked Tony for posting about an ITC Scholarship offered by RISE Professionals (Rising Insurance Star Executives). The post prompted Philip to apply for and get awarded that scholarship to attend ITC. A game changer for him! Access to investors, ideas, and feedback. ⭐️Awareness Social media connections can be a bit lopsided - one person affects the other in an outsized way, but it isn’t reciprocal. And that’s fine, it’s just the way it goes. Sometimes you’re the affectOR and sometimes you’re the ‘EE. Philip recognized and approached Tony 🎩, aware that Tony had no reason to know who he was. Yet Philip approached with enthusiasm, humility and gratitude. How easy it would have been to just walk on by! ⭐️Statement of Impact Watching this unfold, I saw Philip’s unexpected gratitude have a real impact for Tony. You never know who is learning from you; I think we all hope to generate some kind of positive effect but silence is the more common outcome. Again, it’s just the way it goes. Tony opens up to say he always hopes his posts and podcasts land well, but doesn’t always know for sure. (Not that he expects anything whatsoever in reply - social media feels a bit like “shouting into the void” even for a practiced guy like Tony!) He and Philip chat a while. My day got exponentially better from being around that vibe. Philip and I cross paths again during the show and talk for a few minutes. And then I met him and his family on the flight home. This is the beginning of a strong professional relationship, I can tell. Why did this ripple effect happen? Because Philip had the desire to thank someone. Because he gave recognition to a person who catalyzed opportunity. “If you don’t tell them, they don’t know”. If my sons were on LinkedIn they’d recognize this - it’s my favorite parenting trope!

One of the purposes of the NALP #annualeducationconference is to reconnect with others in the industry, especially for those of us in it for a long time. Last week, it was great to catch up with people who I have grown up with in the profession, who have been instrumental in my own career development, (looking at you, Debby, Michele, Emily, Victor, Yujin, Kathren, Carryn). And, then to be sitting next to Carryn at the Flo Recruit dinner! Carryn and I are part of each other’s law firm “origin stories” and it was fun to relive and share how we were trained in that bygone era, from use of significant digits in GPA calculations, the order the doucments appeared in the callback file, printing callback documents on the appropriate colored paper, the correct *full* names of law schools on the appropriately colored file labels, callback reports, FedEx’ing candidate files to Chicago prior to the 5:00 p.m. cutoff, arraning seating charts for recruiting dinners, etc. And, to top the week off, I get to see my oversized headshot at the business meeting, when I was recognized with Clara Solomon and Donna Gerson by our peers at NALP, for doing “work,” that I don’t really consider work. It is so fulfilling when I can connect people and, more importantly, advance other careers. And, to feel and hear the appreciation from the #aapi members, well, it makes it all worthwhile.  #nalp #nalpannual #legalrecruiting
