How does a solution to your problem benefit me? Said another way, What does your problem have to do with me, I have my own problems? Inequity is a universal problem with solutions that have universal and unifying benefits. Welcome to Monday Minute week 25. The curb cut effect is an example of structural bias and inequity that was resolved to provide unencumbered mobility for physically disabled people crossing the street. The “effect” now has cascading benefits to millions including you and me. June celebrates Pride Month and Juneteenth. Equity allows everyone to have a reasonable chance to obtain what is earned, deserved and desired. Bias and structural disadvantages are impacting careers, health, capital financing, family outcomes , and economic mobility. How do we leverage public, corporate and social impact policies to create equity-based solutions for families, employee, employers, communities and communities. #inclusiveleadership #leadership #curbcuteffect #equity

"The last thing services should do is do things to people. Services should be doing things with people." - Jez Harris, Expert by experience. To celebrate #CoProductionWeek, experts by experience, Jez Harris and Isaac Samuels; Kirstie Haines, our Principal Improvement Adviser and Rebecca Bauers, Director for people with a learning disability and autistic people at the Care Quality Commission talked to us about the importance of coproduction at our recent in-person event. #CoProduction is the process of working in partnership with people who receive care, carers and families to design, commission and deliver services. They also explained why councils should consider taking part in a Partners in Care and Health peer review. Our peer reviews are an important part of coproduction. They are voluntary in nature and are aimed at supporting adult social care teams to think on how to develop and improve services for people with a learning disability and autistic people. Peer reviews are not inspections or about assurance and should be seen as ‘critical friends’, however they can be a valuable contribution or provide evidence for CQC assessments.
