In my role, I deal with data & privacy on a daily base. How we handle data sensitively and securely, how we can ensure anonymity, how we always remain within the legal framework. Though we deal with data that is not even remotely close to the sensitivity of the data that we all accumulate in our chat histories every single day. I feel ridiculous and absurd in my work in front of what we could be facing here from the EU. Shitstorms against Adobe and Meta, who want to train models with user content while the EU is destroying fundamental achievements of a democracy. Cynically, so soon after we all witnessed the shift to the right after the last election. Are we completely insane? Where is the shitstorm against the EU? #ChatControl #DataPrivacy #EU

This is the end of privacy... But one way of escaping this kind of iniquitous regulation is to use tools that do not, by design, allow this kind of surveillance! I recommend Sharekey by SHAREKEY Swiss AG

Stay informed, stay vigilant: Your digital rights are at stake❗ The #EU's controversial "Chat Control" proposal is under negotiation, aiming to scan all chats and emails, even encrypted ones, to combat online child abuse. This means our private conversations could be continuously monitored, putting every citizen under suspicion. Imagine the state reading your messages, all in the name of child protection, and let’s be frank: reading your messages will only be the beginning. ❌ While protecting children is vital, mass surveillance isn't the answer. We need better solutions, like enhanced police resources and targeted measures. The EU Parliament will soon decide our #digital future. Whether they will safeguard our privacy or open the door to unprecedented state surveillance, it is now on us to make our voices heard for our #digitalrights. 🗣 We need to urge our governments to stop #chatcontrol now!

Chat Control Must Be Stopped – Now! With its legislative proposal known as “Chat Control,” the EU Commission is trying to establish an unprecedented mass-surveillance apparatus of Orwellian proportions in the European Union. If EU citizens don’t act now, Chat Control could become a reality and online privacy a thing of the past. Mass surveillance is an incredibly bad idea for a number of reasons. We highlight three of them on our blog: https://lnkd.in/eKUkdgSz

CEO @ IDPartner Systems | Digital Trust, Identity Management | Program Management | Business Builder
The Information's Jessica E. Lessin pointed out in her briefing tonight that Google News does not care if a news article was written by a human or an AI bot. "That’s an interesting statement, even setting aside what that will do to the quality of journalism people read." One of the reasons Google doesn't care is because Google does not have a practical way to tell the difference. That's why NotABot by IDPartner is so important. We are not going to be able to detect all the bots. It's a never ending arms race. So, instead, we need to empower people with the tools to prove their identity — and the mere fact that they are human — quickly and easily. We already have a global system readily available. NotABot.IDPartner.com is a demonstration of bank-based ID. Your bank can verify you are real. Personally, I want to read articles that genuinely represent research done by humans, with additional editorial control delivered by humans. I know how humans behave. Now of use really know how the AIs and algorithms work. For something as important as journalism, better the systems we understand than new random number generators with unknown potential impact.

This is simultaneously shocking, whilst also coming as no suprise whatsoever... 😱🙄 I'm absolutely no right wing radical or conspiracy theorist, but you honestly cannot trust anyone in power to respect anyone's right to privacy, over their own agenda 🤨 They will hide, until revealed... Then evade, until caught... Then justify, rather than apologise. But it's not entirely black and white either. I mean... - How many serious crimes are thwarted using such methods? - How many acts of terror? - Are you happy, as citizens I mean, to dispense entirely with illusion of privacy, if it means you are safer from criminality? - Do you/we genuinely trust governments, and big tech to responsibly self regulate their clandestine abuse of our right to privacy? Is it reprehensible government over-reach, or a worthwhile trade-off? What are your thoughts? #dataprivacy #surveillance #crimeprevention Andy Crow John Moorhouse Paul Nicholls Paul Lopez Phylip Morgan Mostyn Thomas NCSC CCP Scott T.

Police in the UK are planning to identify criminals by taking their photos with mobile phones and running them through a database with facial recognition software. The app, known as Operator Initiated Facial Recognition, is already being trialed by three UK police forces, with plans for a nationwide rollout next year. By May 2024, UK police plan to increase the use of retrospective facial recognition to identify people by 100 percent. #ACCS #biometrics #technews #identity #GDPR #news #technology #digitalidentity #SafeOnline #UKOnlineSafety
