As the first week of June comes to a close, we can't help but think back to the previous month and what the month of May brought to our teams here at the Home of Feel-Good Thrills during our 'May Wellness Month'. What is Wellness Month?😌 Our Wellness Month was all about promoting physical and mental wellbeing. That can be anything from checking-in on yourself or checking-in on others to promote healthy conversations about wellness. Why is promoting this important?🤔 Simple gestures to check-in on yourself and others is immensely important. By seeing how others are doing and having an open, honest conversation about wellbeing will help us notice when the people around us need a boost. What is Thorpe Park doing to support?🤗 Whilst we had lots of activities take place during Wellness Month alongside the sharing of resources, the highlight of our monthly topic was the Therapy Dogs visiting our staff! These playful pups brought joy and comfort to our hard-working team, and we are excited to have them visit us again soon! We also delivered additional training to our managers to develop their skillsets in supporting conversations with team members, gave tips and tricks for our teams, and practised movement challenges to connect with the UK’s Mental Health Movement. Wellness was our topic for May, however this topic is a focus every month at Thorpe Park🎢 Remember the importance of asking those around you “how are you?”, take the time to check on one another and care for yourself and others.

'The wellness movement appears to have the answers that our burnt-out minds need. However, psychological research and practice suggests that a superficial focus on candles, juice cleanses, and a “good vibes only” approach to life is unlikely to create meaningful changes to your wellbeing.' What do you think? How should we approach something as important as our wellness? Leave a comment below and let's talk about this. #wellness #wellbeing

Wellness Wednesday - Personal wellness in a world of news that reports daily on war, pandemics, political instability, and economic crises can be a significant challenge. Here are some key points on managing the effects of distressing global events: 1. Stay Informed, but Set Limits While it's important to remain informed, constantly consuming negative news can be overwhelming. Take breaks from news and social media when needed to avoid information overload that fuels anxiety and distress. 2. Connect with Community Engaging with your local community through volunteering, grassroots campaigns, or support groups can help combat feelings of fear and isolation. It provides a sense of empowerment and connection. 3. Find Constructive Outlets Explore ways to express your voice and passion for change through civic engagement, peaceful activism, or respectful discussions. This can give you an outlet and make you feel less powerless. 4. Seek Support Don't bottle up difficult emotions. When feeling overwhelmed, reach out to loved ones, mental health professionals, or helplines. You don't have to go through it alone. 5. Maintain Perspective While global events can be distressing, research shows most people are resilient and able to emotionally recover from major life disruptions within a few years on average. Maintain hope that the difficult period will pass. 6. Practice Self-Care Prioritize self-care activities that promote well-being, such as exercise, relaxation techniques, and nurturing supportive relationships. You can protect your mental health during turbulent times by taking proactive steps to manage your exposure and response to troubling global events.

Men’s Wellness 365 Days of the Year In a world where mental health often takes a backseat, the Wholeman Mission Charity is hoping to make waves by establishing a sanctuary for men to build physical and mental resilience. Our aim is to tackle the escalating concerns around mental health and the alarming rates of suicide among men. A recent comprehensive analysis involving 97 reviews, encompassing 1039 trials and 128,119 participants, highlights the critical role of physical activity in mental health. This study included diverse populations, ranging from healthy individuals to those with chronic diseases and mental health disorders. The findings are striking: * Physical activity showed an effect on reducing symptoms of depression, anxiety, and psychological distress. * Remarkably, the largest benefits were observed in individuals with depression * High-intensity physical activities were linked to more significant improvements in symptoms These insights align perfectly with our ethos at the Wholeman Mission Charity. We believe that incorporating physical activity is not just a lifestyle choice but a vital component in managing mental health issues like depression, anxiety, and distress. Our ‘App’ is designed to harness the power of physical activity, tailoring the intensity and duration to maximise benefits for each individual. By focusing on both physical and mental fortitude, we aim to create a holistic approach to wellness, especially for men who often suffer in silence. The Wholeman Mission Charity is 365 days of the year of men’s physical and mental wellness; it's a movement towards a healthier, more purposeful life. Physical activity is not merely an exercise in fitness but a proven therapeutic strategy in the battle against mental health issues. We invite you to join us in this journey, where every step, every lift, every stretch brings us closer to conquering mental health challenges and rediscovering our true selves. Reach out to find out more.

Take care of yourself 💛 The pursuit of wellness involves seeking continual growth and balance across the seven dimensions of wellness. While many associate wellness primarily with physical health, it encompasses more than just the physical aspect. Wellness is the comprehensive integration of physical, mental, and spiritual well-being, fostering a high quality of life. The concept is multifaceted, with each dimension contributing to an individual’s overall sense of wellness, and these dimensions are interconnected. Although one dimension may take precedence at times, neglecting any aspect for an extended period can have detrimental effects on one’s overall health. #wellness #health #stress #stressmanagement #stressmanagementtips #physicalwellness #emotionalwellness #emotionalwellbeing #intellectual #spiritualwellness #socialwellness #circulareconomy ClimateToo by Wodinna #wodinna Joanna Andersson Dr. Cecilia Higa Hannah Edgren

If you evaluated your wellness and gave yourself a letter grade, how would you do? Would you make honor roll or would you be teetering on the verge of failing? Be honest. It is really important to periodically check-in and assess what changes need to be made. The problem is that often people only think of one or two areas to make improvements. Wellness actually has several facets and it is useful to explore all of them. What’s Your Wellness Grade? - https://lnkd.in/gHez4Sgx
