Thompson Thrift hosted a ribbon cutting for Alta25, a 264-unit Class A multifamily community in the Colorado Springs suburb of Monument, on Wednesday, June 26. 🎉 The first residents began moving in during spring of 2024 and the community is nearly 30% leased. “Thompson Thrift has been developing apartment communities in Colorado for more than 14 years, and we seek to leverage our experience to create communities that meet the needs and desires of area residents,” said Angie Atkins, Senior Vice President of Community Management for Thompson Thrift. “We think Alta25 delivers on style, luxury and convenience.” In support of Thompson Thrift’s commitment to community outreach, they presented a check to local non-profit Paws N Hooves to aid their efforts in saving abandoned and neglected pets, reuniting lost pets with their families and helping connect animals with new families to care for them. Making affordable housing affordable…so what are you doing?
Together, we can create great things! Here is the family who was the recipient of last year's 5K Run for Shelter fundraising. They were able to purchase their home last week and were supper happy with the support they received on achieving their dream of homeownership. This was a very deserving family who really needed any help that could be provided to them. As you can see, all the efforts and hard work with the 5K Run for Shelter have had an impact greater than us. Together, we were able to provide a safe and secure home for this family for years to come. We can’t express enough the gratitude we have for RBar for the support you provide NHS and for this great partnership which keeps growing. Thank you very much! #nhsgb #berkscounty #neighborshelpingneighbors #community #greaterberks #runforshelter5k #thankyou

The dream of homeownership shouldn't be limited by race. But the reality is that discriminatory practices like redlining - where neighborhoods were denied financial services based on race - have created a lasting impact on communities of color. Decades ago, redlining prevented Black families from accessing mortgages and building wealth through homeownership. This systemic disinvestment continues to shape our communities today. At Habitat for Humanity of Michigan, we believe everyone deserves a decent place to live. That's why we're advocating for policies and resources that create a level playing field for homeownership. We build affordable housing and empower families to achieve the dream of homeownership. By donating, you can join us in building a future where race doesn't determine your chance to succeed. Use the link below to donate today and help us create a path to a brighter future for families across Michigan. https://bit.ly/4anyFQh . . . #habitatforhumanity #affordablehousing #habitatrestore #habitathome #michiganders #michiganmade #puremichigan #michiganlove

Colorado CarShare is Colorado's only - and one of the nation's longest-running - #nonprofit #carshare organizations. This year, Colorado CarShare is celebrating 25 years of helping people live a car-lite lifestyle - which has a positive impact on the #environment and local residents' access to transportation and well-being. Their unique nonprofit model enables them to reach communities that otherwise wouldn't have access to carshare services. Last week, Colorado CarShare board and staff convened to envision the priorities for the next 10 years. Looking long-range is important given all the changes we've seen (effects from the pandemic, increasing climate change events, higher socioeconomic disparities - you name it). Looking forward to seeing how this dynamic organization can help make our world "cooler" in the years to come. #strategicplanning #team #sustainability

HomeClub looks at hundreds of articles every day. We choose the best ones to share with our readers. This gives you a quick look at what's happening in the home improvement industry. The article below is one we picked. Community revitalization efforts can have a profound impact on local residents, fostering a sense of belonging and improving quality of life. Lowe's Foundation Hometowns program exemplifies this by awarding $10 million in grants to 100 nonprofits across the United States, as reported by Lowe's Companies, Inc.'s newsroom. These grants will fund diverse projects, from building tiny homes for veterans in South Dakota to creating a community garden in Detroit. By supporting initiatives that address specific local needs, Lowe's is not only improving physical spaces but also strengthening community bonds and providing essential services to vulnerable populations. This commitment to community development demonstrates the power of corporate social responsibility in creating lasting positive change. KOCO TV-Channel 5 Report: Oklahoma Nonprofit Hopes $2M Federal Grant Will Help Housing Crisis The property at 150th Street and Morgan Road will transform into a new neighborhood. OKLAHOMA CITY —An Oklahoma nonprofit said a $2 million federal grant will help the housing crisis. The property at 150th Street and Morgan Road will transform into a new neighborhood. Habitat for Humanity said it's a big project but will help hundreds of households. "It’s the most ambitious project we’ve ever had to undertake," said Ann Felton Gilliland, the CEO of Habitat for Humanity. The 160 acres of land at 150th Street and Morgan Road is empty now, but in a few years will become a neighborhood full of life called Cornerstone Creek. "We’re in a crisis situation, not only our city but our country for affordable housing. So, we were pleased about getting this land and being able to develop it," Felton Gilliland said. The nonprofit organization made it their mission to house low-income families who are in need, something they said is critical for the state. With a new $2 million federal grant from the American Rescue Plan Act, it'll provide much-needed relief. "There's no down payment, no closing cost, so it makes it easy for our families, a little easier for them to get into home ownership when maybe they might not otherwise," Felton Gilliland said. The grant will partially fund phase two of the project to work on infrastructure in the area. They expect houses to be built within the next few years. "It’s a win-win all the way around. Home is where everything begins," Felton Gilliland said. They said construction will begin at the end of January, hoping to roll out 91 homes by the end of 2024. #blessed #HomeSearch #goodcredit #accessibility #thankyou #Oklahomacity #OKC #house #donations #habitat #homebuyer #homes #homeownership #OK #centralokhabit #Oklahoma #compassion #donors #okc #Christ #HabitatForHumanity #habitatokc #okcmetro #habitatok #okchabitat #affordablehomeownership #Volunteers #community

The Cooperative Living Neighborhood at Garden Spot Village offers quality affordable housing for individuals 62 and over. The neighborhood homes are built with donated time and materials to meet the increasing need for affordable, safe housing without government subsidies. In addition, the cooperative living arrangement—which includes a shared kitchen, living room, and other public spaces—combats loneliness and isolation, which are two very prevalent challenges for older people. “Drawing upon the Anabaptist value which recognizes community as the center of our life, the Cooperative Living House replaces isolation with community. Isolation has psychological impacts; our social and physical health deteriorates when we live in isolation. Living in community—with a small group of other people that you know, that you care about, that you learn to live life with together—helps to mitigate all of those challenges that people face as they age.” – Steve Lindsey, CEO of Garden Spot Communities High Foundation is proud to partner with Garden Spot Village in an effort to eliminate social isolation in Lancaster County. #highfoundation #highcompanies #philanthropy #nonprofit #givingback #education #healthservices #humanservices #artsandculture #historicpreservation #environment #sustainability #socialenterprise #socialgood #dogood #giveback #businessforgood #community #lancasterpa #cityoflancaster #lancastercounty #lancastercity #lancastercountypa #centralpa
