In cooking, Alton Brown of Good Eats always told us to avoid "unitaskers" (kitchen tools that only do one thing) because there's not enough space in the kitchen for all of them. On the web, where space is unlimited, unitaskers can make your life easier. Before ChatGPT, there were other game-changing productivity tools. Some of them are obscure, but brilliant, and free! And honestly, ChatGPT is the wrong tool for URL wrangling. #SEO practitioners often need to check status codes in bulk (30x, 4xx, 5xx) and look for redirect chains. We move URLs and those of us working with Apache servers need to understand how to make the most of .htaccess (and know when not to use it for redirects), and everyone who writes code or uses #GoogleSearchConsole should get comfortable with regular expressions. Check out my post on three great tools I couldn't live without for wrangling URLs: httpstatus.io, htaccess tester by madewithlove, and RegEx101.com. P.S. ChatGPT is okay at .htaccess (it lacks context), but it sucks at regular expressions. And it's not "connected to the internet" so it can't check server response codes. https://lnkd.in/ghXBjzCC
