🌍 Happy Earth Day! 🌿 Today, let's embrace a simple change that can make a significant impact! Did you know that by keeping plastics out of our food bins, we can greatly aid sustainability? Here’s how it works: 🔄 Green Energy & Organic Fertiliser: Properly disposing of our food waste—without plastics—allows it to be processed into valuable resources. These organic materials are transformed into biogas, a type of green energy, and digestate, an organic fertiliser rich in nutrients. 🚫🔗 Plastics in the Right Bin: Plastics in food bins can contaminate the process, reducing the quality of the biogas. By ensuring plastics go into the correct recycling bin, we help maintain the integrity and efficiency of this eco-friendly cycle. 🌱 Act Today!: Let’s all commit to placing plastics in their proper recycling bins and keeping them out of our food bins. By doing so, we're not just reducing waste; we're actively contributing to a cleaner, greener future. Together, we can make a difference. Let’s turn our waste into worth and keep our planet healthy. Keep it clean, keep it green! #EarthDay #GreenEnergy #OrganicFertiliser #Sustainability #EcoFriendly #Recycle

In honour of #EarthDay, we’re supporting EARTHDAY.ORG global initiative, #PlanetVsPlastics. Their ambitious goals of achieving a 60% reduction in plastic production by 2040 and eliminating single-use plastics by 2030 are crucial steps towards a healthier planet. Microplastics aren’t just in household dust accumulating under our furniture and on our floors—they are present in the air we breathe. Research has discovered the average human being could be inhaling up to 11.3 MP microplastics per hour. To reduce plastic waste, to end plastic pollution, to stop poisoning ourselves and all other species with microplastics, we need to drastically reduce the volume of plastics we produce. Why? Because there is clear evidence plastics, microplastics, and their additive chemicals have serious health implications, on animals, human beings and especially on our children. #PlanetVsPlastics #EndPlastics #EarthDay

Contain Your Waste 2023 (20th-26th November) We’re just two days away from the start of this year’s Contain Your Waste campaign. Are you ready? In order to help the environment, we all need to cut back significantly on how much waste we produce. If we focus on recycling, reusing and composting our waste instead of throwing it all into landfills, we’ll significantly reduce the production of greenhouse gases. Plus, we save money and get personal satisfaction from doing something worthwhile. What’s not to love? 🌏🗑♻😁 Remember, all you need to be part of Contain Your Waste is a container of your choice and a plan. How are you going to make an entire week’s worth of waste fit into a single container? It’s simple! Think about the item you’re about to dispose of: can it be composted, recycled, reused in some way? If the answer is ‘yes’, then go ahead and do it! If the answer is definitely ‘no’, then it goes in the container. ♻🌳🌏 Make your decisions easier by avoiding things like single use plastics, planning your meals for the week, and thinking about the packaging your items come in when you’re shopping. This is important stuff to get the hang of, because it can lead to new lasting habits that will change how you live, and how your behaviours affect the world around you. 🛍🛒🗑 Participants are encouraged to record their waste efforts over the week and upload their video or photos to the Keep Australia Beautiful website or share on social media using the hashtags: #KABWeek #ContainYourWaste. Register for the Contain Your Waste Challenge today and start planning for success! https://lnkd.in/gGdKku9D

#DAY #FOUR #Plastic #Production and #Consumption #Trends The global production and consumption of single-use plastics continue to surge, creating a substantial environmental challenge. With over 300 million tons produced yearly, a significant portion ends up as pollution in oceans and landfills. 🌍 While some regions exhibit higher per capita usage, the widespread global adoption of single-use plastics underscores the urgency of addressing consumption patterns through sustainable alternatives and proactive policies. It's crucial to curtail this trend to safeguard our environment and wildlife 🐢 while promoting a more sustainable and eco-conscious approach to daily consumption. ♻️ Let's work together to reduce, reuse, and recycle! ♻️ #PlastiPulse #ReshapingTomorrow #RecycleWithPurpose #PlasticRecyclingJourney

We just celebrated another Earth Day, and while it was great to see everyone talk about the importance of sustainability, celebrating only one day a year isn’t enough! We at Green Science Solutions (GSS) believe that every day is Earth Day. After all, we only have one planet, and it’s our responsibility to be good stewards of the environment for future generations. That is easy enough to say as a slogan, but what does celebrating Earth Day everyday actually look like? It’s different for everyone, but here at GSS, we focus on helping people move away from traditional cleaners to more sustainable alternatives. What many people don’t realize is that common chemical cleaners don’t disappear after they get used. Instead, they get washed down the drain, build up on surfaces, or end up in the air as VOCs. By reducing the number of chemical cleaners used in commercial facilities, we help protect our soil, waterways, and air. Additionally, it has become the industry norm to use single-use containers to refill hand-soap dispensers and fill stations, compounding the amount of plastic waste that piles up in landfills. The popularity of single-use solutions also puts a burden on the shipping industry, increasing emissions and waste from packing materials. GSS only promotes products that eliminate waste, are made from recycled materials, reduce shipping requirements, or that do all three at the same time! If you want to learn how to celebrate Earth Day every day with us, feel free to reach out. We’d love to start a conversation. #gss #GreenScienceSolutions #earthdayeveryday #greencleaning #sustainability #greenscience #cleanchemicalfree

Happy Earth Day? Maybe not. Earth Day 2024 is designated “Planet V Plastics”. And with good reason. Because this graph depicts global plastic production from 1950 – 2018. 😢 Each year we’re churning out hundreds of millions of tonnes of the stuff, with a huge amount ending up in nature. When plastic enters the ocean or is exposed to the elements, it quickly starts to degrade, shedding trillions of micro- and nano-plastic particles into the environment. 😲 These plastic particles now permeate the food chain and our water supply. They’re in our blood, in our brains, in our babies. That’s why it’s time to end the eco-virtue-signalling and start taking action. 👊 Greenify is a community of forward-looking businesses that are pushing back against ecological decline. And together, our amazing members have already recovered and repurposed over 16 tonnes of nature-bound plastic waste. They’ve become part of the solution. 🙏 👏 #EarthDay #ESG #sustainability #SME #oceanhealth
