🌈 As two leaders who are part of the LGBTQIIA+ community, celebrating Pride goes beyond just a party. It's about recognizing and addressing the varying levels of privilege within our community and understanding that the fight for rights is ongoing. It might have gotten better for some of us but not all of us. 🏳️🌈 ✨ Let's use our privilege to make a difference: -Engage in open conversations about gender identities, challenging harmful stereotypes and misconceptions. -Advocate for policies that protect the rights and well-being of all the individuals in our community. -Amplify the voices of those in our community who are experiencing heightened discrimination and support their issues. If you don’t know what those issues are - start there and learn more. -Show empathy and understanding, acknowledging that everyone's experience is unique. Let's stand together, embrace diversity, and create a more inclusive world. Acceptance needs to start from within our Community. Happy Pride, Calgary! 🌈❤️

As we commemorate #Juneteenth, we celebrate a pivotal moment in American history that signifies freedom, resilience, and the ongoing journey toward equality. This day reminds us of the importance of embracing diversity, fostering inclusion, and working towards a just society for all. At the same time, I am proud of the barriers that Girl Scouts of the USA have broken. In 1917, just five years after the organization was founded, the first African American Girl Scout troops were established. This progressive step highlighted the dedication to inclusivity, even during times when segregation was widespread in the US. Our commitment remains today, and we, Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles, acknowledge the work still to be done and commit to being agents of change in our communities and organization. #Diversity #Inclusion #equality #girlempowerment

Happy Pride Month! 🏳️🌈 As an ally, I stand with the LGBTIQ+ community not only during June but every day🌈 Let’s remember that: - Tolerance Isn’t Enough: It’s not merely about tolerating differences; it’s about embracing them. Let’s actively learn, listen, and support our LGBTIQ+ friends, colleagues, and family members. - Educate Ourselves: Take the time to educate ourselves about LGBTIQ+ history, rights, and challenges. Knowledge empowers change. - Speak Up: When you hear offensive remarks or jokes, say something. Explain why they are harmful and offensive. Allies play a crucial role in creating safe spaces. - Celebrate Diversity: Let’s celebrate love, identity, and authenticity 🎉 Thank you, JTI, for fostering a culture of acceptance and inclusion. Let’s continue to make a difference together! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

On this Juneteenth, we honor the emancipation of enslaved African Americans and recognize the ongoing journey toward equality and justice. Juneteenth is not just a historical milestone; it is a reminder of the enduring struggle for civil rights and the importance of continuing the fight against systemic racism. It is a day to celebrate African American culture, heritage, and resilience. What Most Companies Do on Juneteenth Observance: Many companies in US recognize Juneteenth as a paid holiday, allowing employees to observe the day and participate in commemorative activities. Education: Some Companies host educational events such as webinars, panel discussions, and workshops focused on African American history, the significance of Juneteenth, and issues of racial justice and inclusion. Community Engagement: Organizations may encourage employees to volunteer in their communities, support local events, or engage in service projects that benefit underserved communities. Juneteenth also provides an opportunity to recognize the intersecting struggles of LGBTQIA+ individuals who are people of color. Their experiences often reflect a dual burden of discrimination based on both race and sexual orientation or gender identity. #Juneteenth #FreedomDay #EmancipationDay #Equality #Justice #Inclusion #Diversity #LGBTQIA #Intersectionality Sonica Aron (She/Her/Hers) Kunal S. HR Business Partner - Embedding people-centric goals to achieve business excellence via strategic change
It shouldn't be a minefield sharing lived experiences and it's impact on you as a individual (remember - not all the same) but it is. So important to navigate it for your wellbeing, self-worth and moving forward as it is so valuable to share to foster understanding but be prepared to say no if you feel the reason does not reflect your values/ self. #Intersectionality #education #DEI #consciousawareness #fosteringbelonging #Wellbeing
We know that colleagues sharing their lived experiences can be a powerful tool for raising awareness of issues affecting marginalised communities in the workplace. We also know that often this can also go horribly wrong and cause more harm than good - both to the person who has been given the platform, and for the audience. With National Inclusion Week in full swing, and Black History Month around the corner, you might find yourself mic'd up (or unmuted and highlighted!) and ready to share stories and insights from your perspective as a marginalised person to an audience at work. These are just some of the key things I would encourage anyone in that position to consider before taking part! What have your experiences been like doing this? Would you recommend it to others, and what advice would you share? #DEI #DiversityEquityInclusion #InclusionWeek

It’s National Indigenous History month and Pride Month! It’s that time of year when performative allies come out in crowds doing the “totally authentic” displays of allyship. 🌻The instant expert: just read a Wikipedia article on Indigenous peoples and now knows everything about Indigenous Peoples 🌺The fashion statement: rocks a dreamcatcher necklace or rainbow t-shirt and calls it “solidarity”. 🥀The social media warrior: Posts themselves at an event and can’t remember what they learned from the event. 🌷The over enthusiastic emoji user: uses every nature or rainbow emoji to show support. My dear budding allies, please remember to: 🧡listen more than you talk. 🧡learn from Indigenous and Queer community voices. 🧡Support Indigenous-led and LGBTQIA2S+ initiatives. 🧡Advocate for genuine change. Remember, being an ally is a lifelong commitment, not a monthly trend. Let’s dig deeper in understanding our true history and learnings. #IndigenousHistoryMonth #PrideMonth #RealAllyship

Sociologist of Sexuality | Co-Editor-in-Chief of Diversity & Inclusion Research (Wiley) | Workplace Inclusion Accreditation Specialist
Both New Zealand and Australia celebrate Pride Month in February. As a queer migrant from China, my life in New Zealand is profoundly influenced not only by my sexuality but also by my ethnicity and migration status. These intersectional identities have significantly shaped my understanding and approach to diversity and inclusion. Rainbow inclusion is closely linked to other forms of oppression, such as structural racism and xenophobia. For organizations, Rainbow Inclusion efforts should aim for tangible change and challenge institutional heteronormativity rather than being a mere box-ticking exercise. In my role as an accreditation specialist at Rainbow Tick, I consistently advocate for an intersectional approach. This enables organizations to address the distinctive challenges experienced by individuals with multiple marginalized identities, such as Rainbow employees who are also ethnic minorities or transnational migrants. Organizations should actively promote the visibility of intersectional identities, as they often exist on the margins, and their needs are frequently overlooked and disregarded. In the next five years, I hope to witness a deeper level of diversity and inclusion in critical aspects of our society, notably within education and the workplace. This requires confronting challenges associated with pervasive whiteness and heteronormativity while also promoting greater awareness of intersectional issues.
