Rejections often sting, but sometimes, they can be the very thing that boosts our confidence and pride.
I recently approached a client about creating an ad film for his brand.
I shared my website link, showcasing my showreel, and eagerly awaited a response.
Weeks went by with no word—no yes, no no, nothing.
Eager to understand the silence, I followed up and eventually approached his assistant, requesting honest feedback.
The assistant revealed that the client thought my work was of such high standard that he assumed my costs would be too high for his budget.
He needed a low-budget ad film.
Initially, I wanted to ask about his budget and negotiate, but then I realized: if he sees my work as high-standard, why should I lower it?
So, I thanked him and said, “If you ever decide to invest in a high-budget ad film, feel free to contact me.”
Walking away from this potential client, I felt an unexpected surge of pride and confidence.
Usually, rejections hurt, but this one taught me a valuable lesson in client acquisition and self-worth.
Have you ever had a rejection that made you feel stronger?
It’s a powerful reminder that sometimes, maintaining your standards is more important than closing every deal.
