When I look at what courses/skills I need to add to my list, these are the questions I ask: While there's always room for becoming more fluent in what's trending today, is it worth your time if it will become outdated in 12 months? What has sticking power and you'll need to maintain updated knowledge for? Where is the future of work headed in the next 5 years? 10? What skills are required daily fluency required now? (like keeping up to date on platform updates like GA-> GA4 Are you doing your learning "housekeeping"? Do I want to be doing this type of work as part of my job description? (for example, I'm never going to study how to do the work associated w/ being a phlebotomist because I'm a big baby about the nature of the work) Will this amplify other skills I have? Do I just need to use an external validation that I know about this topic? Is this a credential just to brand/position myself/ codify what I already know? Am I just curious about this? Here's one for you--> What have been your most rewarding courses you've taken recently?

Passionate about improving the education system, so children & young people thrive. living the mantra, 'be who you needed when you were younger'. #ADHDer #Dyslexic
As we draw to the end of another very busy academic year. I have been reflecting on what I have been up to this year. I'm sure like everyone else in education, I'm tired and really need a break. So it's interesting to reflect back on what's work and been effective, what hasn't worked and why? What could I do better and/or be more efficient. Interestingly in reflecting lots of things didn't fit nicely into a category, so in a nutshell: 👉 Recruitment processes, both headships & inspectors/advisers = 6 👉 School visits = 43 👉 School QA visits, with reports = 25 👉 Supporting schools with Ofsted visits = 21 👉 Briefing with Cllrs = 10 👉 Strategy/Implementation meetings = 24 👉 New headteacher Induction CPD = 2 👉 Headteacher PMR = 8 👉 Headteacher briefings, both special & education centres = 8 👉 Alternative Provision/IMNSS visits = 5 👉 Delivered training sessions = 15 👉 Attending FGB's = 13 👉 Various internal team meetings, at different levels = 47 👉 External meetings = 8 👉 Mental health meetings = 8 👉 Education awards ceremony = 2 📖 and read a load of great books! None of the above accounts for 1-2-1 line management meetings, travel to and from meetings/visits (I've racked up miles on my car, travelled via trains and hovercraft), responding and sending emails, phone calls, condolence letters, complaints, text messages, prep for meetings/training and most importantly the DBV/Safety Valve school facing workstreams. However, your academic year has been, I wish everyone a fabulous summer break. Recharge your batteries, spend time doing things you love, spend time with family, friends and loved ones.

I attended Service Language & Professional Image by Service Quality Centre at MDIS. The trainer Ms Maggie Tan was well versed with her expertise. From her sharing, as an individual I would want to take away the Maslow Hierarchy, five-stage model can be divided into deficiency needs and growth needs. This model is a highly-influential way of organizing human needs from the most "basic" to the most advanced. The needs are: physiological (food and clothing), safety (job security), love and belonging needs (friendship), esteem, and self-actualization. Have I reached the top tier of the pyramid? I reflect that I am transitioning to the top. Yes, I desire to become that one I can be. I will be and will not give up! And the second take away is the attitude and gratitude. A person's attitude changes over the years due to life experiences, success and failures but the values remains when he/she remembers Gratitude. Be always thankful! I am thankful to have a family, a roof over my head, caring friends, supportive colleagues, a job where I demonstrate my knowledge, explore the opportunities at work, learn from everyone and stay healthy physically and mentally. Thanking the Universe.
