Shana tova! Rosh Hashana is the Jewish New Year, which is observed on the first and second days of the Hebrew month of Tishrei. It marks the beginning of the Ten Days of Repentance, a time for introspection and reflection on the past year's deeds, as well as the start of a new year filled with hope and new opportunities. During Rosh Hashana, many Jewish people attend synagogue services where they participate in prayers, hear the sounding of the shofar (a hollowed-out ram's horn), and perform the Tashlich ceremony, where they symbolically cast their sins into a body of water. It is also customary to eat special foods, such as apples dipped in honey, to symbolize a sweet and fruitful new year. Rosh Hashana is a time for renewal and a chance to make amends for past mistakes. It is a time to reflect on one's own actions and strive to be a better person in the year ahead. #oaktreelawfirm #MNattorney #MNestateplanningattorney #MNimmigrationattorney #MNfamilylaw #estateplan #willsandtrusts #powerof attorney #healthcaredirectives #assetprotection #legacybuilding #familylegacy #MNmom #MNdad #immigrationlaw #familylaw #landlord #tenant

As we recognize MLK Jr Day today, it is important to take a moment to understand how the Catholic Church played a strong role in the Civil Rights movement. Here is a great article on Catholic involvement in the 1965 Selma march: https://lnkd.in/eQk74uPQ Live Your Faith Each Day!

Legalism is a major problem within the church today. Those who engage in legalism are teaching unbiblical ideas and pressing them on the congregation. John Piper defines legalism as “Legalism is the conviction that law-keeping is now, after the fall, the ground of our acceptance with God.” Here are five problems with legalism in the church. 1. Trying to Earn Favor Before God The number one problem of legalism is that legalism teaches us that we must try to earn favor before God through our actions. Instead of resting in the sure promise of salvation through Jesus’ finished work, legalistic individuals try to teach that we need to earn favor before God through our actions.

Matthew 23 Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples: 2 “The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. 3 So you must be careful to do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach. 4 They tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them on other people’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them. 5 “Everything they do is done for people to see: They make their phylacteries[a] wide and the tassels on their garments long; 6 they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues; 7 they love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and to be called ‘Rabbi’ by others. 8 “But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’ for you have one Teacher, and you are all brothers. 9 And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and he is in heaven. 10 Nor are you to be called instructors, for you have one Instructor, the Messiah. 11 The greatest among you will be your servant. 12 For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted. #politics #government #institutions #humility #arrogance #commonperson #middleclass #workingclass #WashingtonDC No rights claimed or asserted to image.

When your employer asks you to write a blog post (which quickly turned into an idea for a series) on the vocation of the Catholic lawyer, you know you are in the right place! Thank you, Napa Legal, for such amazing professional opportunities! It's great to love what you do for work. This is the first installment in the series, which is a general overview of the holiness that all laypeople are called to. Takeaway: we are all called to become saints; that's not just for priests, monks, and nuns! Second installment is almost ready to go, with several more to follow in the coming weeks!

Share with a gentleman in your life.
Harrison's argument on men's roles in society, the church, and the home is thought-provoking. It prompts reflection on whether men in our communities are aligning with scriptural teachings. Further exploring successful actions men can take may offer valuable insights. #MenInSociety #BiblicalTeachings
