At our latest Elida Beauty Wellbeing Event, we had the pleasure of hearing Kimberley Wilson present “Brain Food: Unlocking the Power of Brain-Boosting Nutrition.” Kimberley Wilson is a Chartered Psychologist, with a master’s degree in nutrition and the author of How to Build a Healthy Brain (2020) and Unprocessed (2023). She has a private practice in Central London and is a former Governor of the Tavistock and Portman NHS Mental Health Trust. Kimberley led the therapy service at Holloway Prison, which at the time was Europe's largest Women’s prison. The practical advice Kimberley shared with our team was invaluable, offering us all a deeper understanding of how nutrition impacts our brain health and productivity. Her insights sparked great discussions and provided us with actionable steps toward optimizing our cognitive well-being. We can see the evidence of Kimberley’s wisdom in what people are eating for their lunch!! Also the fact that over a week later, people are still talking about how great the talk was and how much it has impacted them. We would like to say a special thank you to Kimberley for helping us to support the well-being of our Elida Beauty community. #Elidabeauty #Event #Wellbeing #Health #Nutrition

Coming together as a a strong, unified and impactful leading voice is what #dietitians are all about. This week, #dietitians, #APDs and nutrition professionals are connecting to transform the way Australia recognises our voice in the #MentalHealth space. We need better integration of dietetic and nutrition services into Australia’s health care system to shake up the way we support mental health conditions. There are still 2 days left of the big week, but your #MindBodyBrain toolkit can steer you further. The evidence and tools you need to have a voice are all there: https://bit.ly/4c9ctLg

When people speak about living a healthy lifestyle, good sleep, healthy diet, low stress, and physical activities often come up. However, in yesterday's session at the WIMA's Medical Conference on Lifestyle in Medicine, we were reminded that there are two other behaviors that make up the “6 Pillars of Lifestyle Medicine”. 1. Avoiding alcohol, tobacco, and drugs 2. Forming and maintaining positive relationships As humans we are social beings as such collaboration and interactions with others are important to our well-being. It is, therefore, logical that the quality of those relationships may have an impact on our mental health and our overall well-being. As one of the speakers posed “why isn't mental health listed as one of the non-communicable diseases?” I truly believe that as mental health slowly moves away from being a taboo topic, especially in the Caribbean region, we will begin to see a positive shift in persons overall well-being and thus in their contribution to society. Kudos to our psychologists, psychiatrists, and social workers. #LifestyleConference #WIMA #SXM #HealthyLiving #HolisticApproachToGoodHealth #MentalHealthMatters
