Genuine human connection is vital to fundraising success, and yet so many of us struggle to pick up the phone. I invite you to examine - what keeps you from calling your donors? ☎️ Worrying that your call would be unwelcome? ☎️ Waiting until you have a better, more perfect script? ☎️ Not enough time in the day? ☎️ Sheer terror at the thought of rejection? There’s a million reasons not to call. 👉 Remember though: donors want to hear from you. They need to hear from you. And nothing beats a live connection. 👉 Remember too: You are good enough. Your organization is good enough. It’s enough to show up with gratitude, curiosity, and warmth. ❤️ You’ve got this. ❤️ If you want to hear more, I share a real life client story in this video, along with an easy tip to stay connected with your purpose as a fundraiser. #development #fundraising #donorcalls #nonprofitleadership #nonprofitcoaching #heartcentered —-- Hi, I’m Vanessa. I coach newly-promoted nonprofit managers and directors to greater confidence and efficacy. I still have openings for new clients beginning this month, including one "pay what you can" spot. If you (or someone you supervise) would be interested, DM me to learn more!

This documentary illustrates what most of us suspect to be more frequently happening perhaps in a more limited way across the clinics(some donors give different names and cross states in Australia but much more in the informal sector where vulnerable women are taken advantage of because they want a child and think they are doing the responsible thing by finding a sperm donor who has the right crendentials on paper. I would expect some more regulations to be put into place with more co-operation between states.
Netflix's Man with 1000 Kids is disturbing, but for many of us who have been in the donor conception communities, it was perhaps unsurprising. What struck me most was that even the women who did all the right things - vetting their donor, asking the right questions, using sperm banks that made promises of family limits - they were blindsided. Jonathan told many women he only donated to 3-5 families; they believed him. How do we stop someone like Jonathan from continuously donating, when there's very little regulation of men's bodies and their ability to procreate? There does need to be tighter regulation of sperm and egg banks, tracking of children born, and better access to information. It was clear in Man with 1000 Kids that at least one sperm bank accepted Jonathan's monthly donations and allowed many, many more donations than they allowed in their family limits. Social media - Meta and Youtube - could also take more responsibility for allowing these men to publicise their availability as donors. I was appalled by the donors on this show. Their attitudes, their racism and white supremacy, objectification of women and the people born. I was heartened by the women's tenacity and openness, and for having the courage to protect their children. Joe Donor got a mention in the show - we've seen him before, and unfortunately there are other men like Joe and Jonathan out there - https://lnkd.in/gxPRW7T
