🔗📢 Summary of My Latest Article! 📢🔗 Hello, leaders and colleagues dedicated to building a fairer and more inclusive world! I am pleased to share the key ideas from my recent article, "Building Inclusive Organizations: The Role of Racial Equity in Public Institutions," published on Mosaice’s website. In this article, I explore the importance of diversity, inclusion, and equity within public institutions. Using the National Judiciary Pact for Racial Equity in Brazil as a case study, I discuss how targeted initiatives can help combat structural racism and promote a more inclusive environment. Key points include: The Role of Public Institutions: Public institutions must extend their commitment to diversity and inclusion beyond urban management to all government sectors. National Judiciary Pact: This bold initiative aims to address and rectify racial inequalities within the Brazilian judiciary, promoting affirmative actions and reparative measures. Current Challenges: Despite efforts, the underrepresentation of Black individuals in the judiciary remains a significant issue, with only 1.7% of judges identifying as Black and 12.8% as mixed race. Mosaice’s Commitment: Mosaice is dedicated to promoting racial equality and combating institutional racism by establishing a specialized team to educate and drive effective changes within the judiciary. As a lawyer and consultant with over 15 years of experience in human rights protection, I believe in the power of collective action to create organizations that genuinely reflect our society's diversity. By understanding and addressing the challenges of racial equity, we can foster a more just and representative system for all. Looking ahead, we aim to make Mosaice a global company, and we are excited to offer online lectures to audiences worldwide starting now. i want to talk about the myth of the tolerant dutch the dutch have a few reputations that truly precedes them they are tall, they are direct, they are great at riding bikes, and they love cheese and a few reputations that are total 🐂💩 like that the netherlands are tolerant and progressive while this may have been true at one point in time—and i hate to break it to you, but their former tolerance was still largely contingent upon hegemony—it sure as heck isn’t true anymore en zeg niet “niet allemaal nederlanders” because i don’t have the energy today, oké the blatant displays of racism in this country are terrifying—and getting worse by the day Islamophobia is rampant anti-Black racism is rampant xenophobia is worse than ever the LGBTQ+ community is under attack—specifically our trans siblings reproductive healthcare is under attack—yup, forced-birth politics are a thing here too 23.49% of the country recently voted for a racist, far-right party, full of hate mongers and then when called on it, walked around yelling about how just because they voted for a racist, doesn’t make them individually racists *sigh* even though the dutch love to watch american politics and laugh at the u.s., they haven’t actually learned a single thing about what happens when you pander to white grievance voters if you can take a social issue (housing crisis) and use that to justify voting for racists (pvv) who ran on collectively punishing and scapegoating one specific group of people (Muslims) you may subscribe to white supremacy ideology and colonial thinking again, this isn’t a left vs right issue many of the dutchies that voted for wilders and pvv consider themselves left leaning/liberal what this is, is an internalized white supremacy/whiteness issue below is a comment from a dutch woman that i feel like truly encapsulates what ive seen from the dutch in my 2.5 years here assimilate, subscribe to whiteness, submit wholly to the white supremacy ideology and colonial thinking that made the netherlands great or get out image description: a screenshot of a comment on a dutch review ig post about geert wilders resigning from the prime minister position that expresses deeply concerning anti-immigrant sentiments

On March 26, we discussed personal relationships and family values in Brazil with Samuel Rodrigues as our guest speaker. He is currently living in Beberibe, state of Ceará, Brazil. He provided illuminating insights into Brazilian culture by comparing historical norms from the empire era of 1822-1889 to present life. Samuel started his presentation by illustrating the historical context of Brazilian society during the empire era, which was deeply influenced by Portuguese colonization and Catholicism. Family dynamics were structured around social class, with distinct roles for men and women, and parental expectations were tailored to fit the economic aspirations of each social status In the past, religious traditions, particularly Catholicism, held significant influence over social norms, shaping practices such as arranged marriages, hierarchical family structures, and obedient children. However, Samuel noted significant shifts in contemporary Brazilian society following the transition to a republic in 1889. Modern Brazil is characterized by greater gender equality, and diversified religious practices. Despite these changes, Samuel highlighted that the transition from Catholic dogma to secularism has brought about a newfound emphasis on individual freedom and autonomy. As Samuel concluded his presentation, he offered a glimpse into modern Brazilian life by showcasing contemporary wedding customs that embrace diverse settings beyond traditional church ceremonies. Thank you Samuel, for giving valuable insight of personal relationships and family values in Brazil. #CrossCulturalUnderstanding #CulturalExchange #BrazilianCulture

Making great strides with “Hakkik Aleina”! Proud of our work in fighting against the waiving of personal claims and legal rights of women and children in crimes committed within the same family in Jordan. It feels like just yesterday when envisioning this team was a dream. And yet, here we stand today - an organized and independent feminist movement, steadily progressing towards realizing our mission. *Captured during a session with women in the local community of Madaba, in collaboration with the Young Women's Christian Association, with the great speakers; Dana S. and Sari Sabatin, and a fantastic facilitation by Tamara AL Hassanat. Our efforts are spreading awareness and galvanizing public sentiment about the issue across different governorates. #womenempowermentmovement #communityengagement #communitysupport #feminist #jordan #awarenesscampaign #togetherforchange #positiveimpact

If you’re a supporter of the FSU, we urge you to become a member before Scotland's draconian Hate Crime and Public Order (Scotland) Act 2021 is activated on 1st April. https://lnkd.in/dHsUUEU No doubt you’ll have already heard about this draconian new law, whereby a person can be hauled in for questioning by the Scottish police if they’re accused of ‘stirring up hatred’ against a person or group of persons with one or more ‘protected’ characteristics, including ‘transgender identity’. Police Scotland have also confirmed that playwrights, actors and performers of all kinds will be within scope of the new law, including stand-up comedians. To provide FSU members with as much peace of mind as we can, we are putting an arrangement in place with a top firm of criminal lawyers in Scotland so we can assign a solicitor to members who are arrested or questioned under caution by Police Scotland because they’re suspected of committing a speech-related ‘hate crime’ (as defined in the new law). We also intend to fight the new law in the courts, arguing that it’s incompatible with the free speech protections in the European Convention on Human Rights. Click the link below to find out more. https://lnkd.in/eAsVv9MS If you can, please donate to our dedicated Scottish GoFundMe Fight Fund to help us fight back against Scotland's Hate Crime Act. https://lnkd.in/evwPMtzz

On Mandela Day, people are asked to devote 67 minutes to help others, why? 🌍🤝 Every July 18th, the world celebrates Nelson Mandela International Day. This day honours the incredible legacy of this iconic leader and his lifelong fight for social justice and equality. But beyond the celebration lies a powerful call to action: dedicating 67 minutes of our time to helping others. Why 67 minutes? It's a symbolic gesture representing the 67 years Nelson Mandela spent serving his country, from his early days as a human rights lawyer to his historic presidency of South Africa. 🇿🇦 But how can we best use these 67 minutes, particularly in the ongoing fight against racism? Here are some ideas how you can leverage this time to make a real difference: 1. Educate yourself and others: 📚🎥 ➡️Read books or articles by Black authors and scholars on race relations and the history of racism. Example: "The New Jim Crow" by Michelle Alexander ➡️Watch a movie followed by a discussion on a film that tackles racial issues. Example: "13th" directed by Ava DuVernay ➡️Attend workshops on unconscious bias or microaggressions. 2. Challenge Racist Behaviour: 🗣️🚫 ➡️Speak up if you witness someone being discriminated against, even if it feels uncomfortable. ➡️Have open conversations with friends and family about racial stereotypes and biases. ➡️Report incidents of racial harassment to the appropriate authorities. 3. Support organizations: 💪🏿🌟 ➡️There are many organizations working to address racism and promote racial equality at the local, national, and international levels. ➡️You can support these organizations by donating money, volunteering your time, or spreading awareness of their work. ➡️By supporting these organizations, you can help to make a real difference in the fight against racism. Remember, these are just a few ideas to get you started. The most important thing is to take action and use your voice to challenge racism. What ideas do you have to devote your 67 minutes to help others? Let us know in the comment section, we are excited to hear all your ideas! 💡 Let's use this Nelson Mandela Day to honour his legacy and build a more just and equitable world for all. 🌍✊🏾 #NelsonMandelaDay #FightRacism #EqualityForAll

Listen to the experiences of marginalised communities and seek out diverse perspectives. 🟢Speak Up: Don't stay silent in the face of racism. Speak up against discriminatory behaviour, whether it's in person or online. Use your voice to advocate for change and challenge racist attitudes and stereotypes. 🟡Listen and Amplify: Listen attentively to the voices of those who have been affected by racism. Amplify their voices and stories, and support their initiatives and movements for justice. 🟠Engage in Dialogue: Engage in open and honest conversations about race and racism with friends, family, and colleagues. Foster a culture of dialogue where people feel safe to discuss difficult topics and learn from each other. 🟢Support Anti-Racism Initiatives: Support organisations and initiatives that are actively working to combat racism and promote equality. This could involve donating funds, volunteering time, or participating in advocacy campaigns. 🟡Promote Diversity and Inclusion: Advocate for diversity and inclusion in all areas of society, including workplaces, schools, and communities. Support policies and practices that promote equity and representation for all individuals. ❌Vote for Change: Use your voting power to support candidates and policies that prioritise racial justice and equality. Back in the day, Chicana activist #ElizabethMartinez called out the pitfall of #minority groups competing over who’s “got it worse.” Spoiler alert: everyone under the boot of #whitesupremacy deserves a fighting chance. We’re stronger together. Just look at the AAPI community! They’ve a long history of building cross-racial coalitions, realizing that social justice is a team sport. From fighting alongside #Blackactivists in the #CivilRightsMovement to supporting #Latinx communities against police brutality, the AAPI community has always understood the power of solidarity. They know that dismantling oppression requires a united front, not a fragmented one. This AAPI Heritage Month, let’s celebrate the power of coalitions. Let’s ditch the “who suffers most” contest and join hands in the fight for justice for ALL. Black liberation is tied to Asian liberation, Latinx liberation is tied to Indigenous liberation – we rise together, or we fall one by one. So, shout out to the #AAPIcommunity for leading the way! Let’s learn from their example, dismantle the Oppression Olympics once and for all, and build a future where everyone has the right to breathe, thrive, and exist with dignity. #UnitedWeStand #AAPIAndBeyond #JusticeForAll #IntersectionalFeminism #SisterhoodIsGlobal #StrengthInNumbers #BreakingBarriers https://lnkd.in/dkJCwqYw
