The Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA) is organising the 2nd TBCSA tourism leadership conference, which will take place from 6-8 September at the Sun City Resort in the North West, South Africa. Coinciding with tourism month and the beginning of spring, the conference will be held under the theme “Tourism – The Engine of Growth”. The theme of the conference has been chosen to highlight the role of tourism for the South African economy. The conference will be an open forum for discussion on the opportunities and challenges facing the tourism sector. The solutions required for South Africa’ tourism sector to continue being sustainable and competitive will also be discussed. For this to happen, the private sector, public sector, academia, and media, will come together to share knowledge and focus on how to help South Africa achieve its goal of 21 million arrivals by 2030. Some of the topics that will be discussed at this year’s conference include but not limited to; Tourism safety The working relationship between the private and public sector for the good of tourism The sustainability of SMMEs in the tourism sector How to improve the marketing of destination South Africa Glenton de Kock will be at the conference representing SAACI, be sure to come and say hi. #fridayvibes #Saaci #TBCSA

Great news for hoteliers—the latest United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) report projects a nearly 90% recovery of global tourism to pre-pandemic levels by the end of 2023. Led by the Middle East, Europe and Africa, international tourism earnings are expected to reach about 93% of pre-pandemic levels (1.4 billion USD), with many areas already surpassing their 2019 numbers.
