TEAK hosted its spring College Launch Series for Fellows in Classes 20, 19, and 18 (Rising college sophomores, juniors, and seniors). The week's programming included a networking session and etiquette luncheon hosted by Neuberger Berman, career conversations and speed networking at Blue Owl Capital, and a visit to KITH for a behind the scenes look into the fashion industry and operations. Thank you so much to our corporate hosts for partnering on this exciting week of programming and for introducing TEAK's college Fellows to new industries, professional journeys, and expanding their networks.

Myth Busting - Work Experience If you offer a placement you don't get given a student to take, you can interview and find the student to find who's the best fit for your business. This is a win win, you know who you're getting and the students get valuable interview experience, we all know how daunting interviews are! Extra win, if you have a staff mentor you are looking to be on an interview panel for the first time, they can also use this as practice. A staff member looking to progress to team leader, mentoring a work experience is a great first step to developing management skills. 🔹 Lou Earp - Dutton Gregory Solicitors 🔹FREC🔹 example below is wonderful to see. In the New Forest Sam Sutton takes this approach as their work in outdoor activities is niche it's important to have the right student to ensure the experience is great for them and for Sam's team. If you interview for work experience students add a comment, I'd love to hear more examples. For work experience at our local colleges contact Claire Pacariz for Brockenhurst and Pamela Broad for Totton. 🎯 Jodi Fair Sara Warry-Powell Jamie Webber Matt Rowland #workexperience #skills #newforestbusiness
Throwback to two weeks ago Thursday! Brianna Garley MCILEx and I enjoyed interviewing students from Itchen Sixth Form College for work experience placements in July! I continue to be really impressed with the quality of candidates that we see from Itchen. When we visited, we saw the new and improved SEND space and it warms my heart to see a school so invested in equity and belonging for their students! Thank you Nicola Parnell for hosting us again, brilliant as always 💙

I had a blast interviewing Wendy J Rosploch, NACD.DC for this article. We are in a brave new world ripe with tech and STEM opportunities. This exhibit will be a great starting point to show the upcoming generations this area is booming and will continue to boom for tech and everything associated with it. #stemeducation #techcommunity #techcareers #stemcareers

I was honored and humbled when my newest friend David Zey, introduced the Careers to Explore and Experience exhibit to Heather Graves and Megan Dickman-Renard. This introduction turned into an interview with Chris Rugowski and a beautiful story about the upcoming exhibit. Thank you to The Business News Wi for helping us spread the word to parents, businesses, and schools in Northeast Wisconsin. The over 40 volunteers look forward to connecting and engaging students in Science, Technology, and Engineering careers! https://lnkd.in/gUiCCv6Y

“Being in the Black community, college has always been a goal your family wants you to accomplish, because at one point, we weren’t able to get those degrees. As a Black person maneuvering through life, a college degree is the ultimate accomplishment. But it shouldn’t be anymore.” Yssa, 23 year old software engineering apprentice at an advertising company. Navigating the path to success should be inclusive of ALL education-to-career pathways! 🛤️🎓 We must bridge the "informational black hole" by highlighting diverse pathways beyond traditional higher education, ensuring all students can plan and thrive in their careers.
