We are excited to announce an upcoming workshop titled "Empowering Young Changemakers: Unleashing the Power of Activism" in Kano State. This workshop is supported by the Center For Information Technology and Development (CITAD) and it aims to equip 50 young individuals aged between 18-30 with the essential skills and knowledge required for effective activism. Our objectives for this workshop are as follows: a. Provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the concept of activism and its role in driving social change. b. Empower participants with practical skills in networking, community organizing, volunteering, and accessing global opportunities. c. Foster a sense of community and collaboration among young change makers in Kano State. d. Inspire participants to take action and create sustainable positive change in their communities. We believe that young people are the driving force behind social change, and this workshop is designed to empower you to make a difference. Today being Social Mobility Day, I think it's important to highlight the importance of social mobility and the impact it can have on young people. Every young person deserves equal access to opportunity and there are so many amazing organisations trying to bridge that gap for the young people who don't have that access. Career Ready being one of them, as it is an amazing charity that helps underrepresented young people with access to career support through mentorship, paid work experience and work-place visits. Social mobility can improve the lives of so many young people by giving them access to mentorship and opportunities in sectors they may not have realised were a possibility and it's something we need to continue to champion for all those young people that aren't already aware. #CareerReady #YAB #ShareMoments #SocialMobilityDay

🌟 ACTION 🌟 Yesterday, we had fun hosting a thought-provoking discussion event in collaboration with pro-manchester titled "Social Value in Action." 🚀 During the event: 🔹Victoria Braddock our event host, emphasised Manchester's recognition of social value, positioning it as an investment in continuous growth and the city's thriving economy. 🔹 Adam Farricker CEO of Hideout Youth Zone and Salford Youth Zone, shared insights on how social initiatives serve as strategic investments benefiting both companies and the charity sector in the long run, stressing the importance of giving back to the next generation. 🔹 Adam John Warriner shed light on impactful collaborations between the JD Foundation and the charity sector, showcasing examples where these collaborations amplified social impact and yielded tangible returns on investment. 🔹 Jen Gillies Pemberton discussed the importance of effectively measuring and managing social value, sharing practical approaches, tools, and strategies for impactful and sustainable initiatives. 💎 The event's highlight was our Hideout member, Aliyah, sharing invaluable insights into how corporate recognition of social value uplifts her community. She recounted experiences, from becoming a National Youth Theatre student to hosting podcasts with JD, showcasing the immeasurable impact of corporate support on her growth and opportunities. Aliyah brought laughter and perspective to our gathering, reminding us of our collective purpose to why we’re all sat in a room together on an early rainy Manchester morning, to shape a better future for our city, empower young people, and foster social mobility in our communities. Kicking off a research and strategy project with the 1st Year MBA students at William & Mary – Raymond A. Mason School of Business on "Culture of volunteerism in Generation Z!" The project hits home because I am, of course, not only raising my own Gen Z twin daughters, I work with a pretty amazing team of Gen Z professionals at Arcadis! And having worked with non-profits and for-profit organizations as a volunteer, as well as in roles accountable to mobilize and continuously engage volunteers, I deeply appreciate the triumphs and tribulations of the culture of volunteerism.
