Struggling to make your community more inclusive? Lets solve it - Inclusivity and diversity aren't just buzzwords; they're community pillars. Here's how I ensure everyone feels welcome: • Define Values and Goals: Clearly articulate what inclusivity means for your community. At Grull.work, we established core values that celebrate diversity and set the tone for all interactions. • Diverse Representation: Actively seek out and promote diverse voices and stories. This means featuring content that reflects a variety of perspectives and experiences, ensuring everyone feels seen and heard. • Encourage Open Dialogue: Foster an environment where members feel safe to share their experiences and viewpoints. Encouraging respectful dialogue and collaboration leads to a richer, more vibrant community. • Accessibility Matters: Ensure your content is accessible to everyone, including those with disabilities. Simple changes like adding subtitles to videos or ensuring your website is navigable by screen readers can make a big difference. • Address and Learn from Challenges: Be proactive in addressing issues of discrimination or exclusion. Create a clear process for reporting and addressing grievances and be open to learning and growing from each challenge. Inclusivity is a journey. Start it. Nurture it. In 2043, communities will be beautifully diverse. Celebrate it. Embrace it. And remember, diversity is strength. • Make every member feel valued • Continuously strive for a more inclusive space With these strategies, your community will not only grow in numbers but in depth and unity. #InclusiveCommunities #DiversityInAction #CKInsights

From the desk of Dr. Gerilyn Davis: Happy Wednesday to you! I hope everyone is having an outstanding week preparing for the holiday. I love holidays as there are always opportunities to focus on inclusion. Inclusion isn’t like any typical business function because of socialization and social conditioning. Thus, we have an opportunity to recondition ourselves to be more inclusive. What may work for one individual/organization may not work for another. Here are some factors to consider: --- INCLUSIVE ITERATIONS: We can measure effectiveness by monitoring our iterations that gain momentum. --- INCLUSIVE SEEKING: Once we build momentum on our inclusive journey, start seeking additional opportunities for inclusion. --- INCLUSIVE INTENTION: The intent to be inclusive has to be more pervasive than exclusionary practices, or we revert to previous behaviors. Even as the holiday is coming, these are opportunities for inclusion. It’s the deliberate focus that makes it all worth it. Enjoy your day! #joyofinclusion #inclusionexpansion #inclusionfocus #inclusionincludesyoutoo #InclusionontheSlopes #SWORDInclusionSystem #PhaseThreeOpportunityPlanning

Director , Head of Retail Lease Management and Australian Joint Lead JLLPRIDE of D E & I Committee at JLL
JLL is Celebrating Who We Are, which is a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) awareness initiative celebrated across APAC every September. This year’s theme – Everybody needs an ally – focuses on the role of an ally, how important it is, and how easily we can be one for the those around us. In society and in workplaces, there are times when people feel marginalised and excluded. That is why allies play an important role in ensuring that underrepresented groups are supported, heard and respected. Having an ally, or being one, can help shine a light on inequalities and try to reduce the gap to help others get on a more equal footing. I am an ally and actively listen to marginalised individuals and communities, seeking to understand their perspectives and needs without bias. At JLL, we promote allyship to help foster authenticity and belonging because this creates an inclusive workplace and culture where employees are less likely to feel isolated. Allies are key to building a culture where our people feel they belong, are valued and can be authentic and thrive. Around Australia, on Wednesday 13 September, we will be conducting simultaneous panel sessions on the topic How can I be a better ally? In Victoria our panel will include Meg Patten (Queers in Property), Lee McLaughlin (JLL) and myself Paul Flanigan 🏳️🌈 (JLL) hosted by Joshua Fisher Our panellists will discuss topics such as being queer in the property industry and forming of Allyship amongst each other across business through networking and experiences of what makes a good ally. #jll #jllaus #CelebratingWhoWeAre #EverybodyNeedsAnAlly #jllpride

Talk does not create inclusion. We’ve all heard the phrase ‘actions speak louder than words’, but when it comes to putting this into practice, so many of us fall at the first hurdle. This Neurodiversity Celebration Week, we are calling EVERYONE to action. Whether you’re a business owner, a freelancer, an employee or a manager… We want you to look around and consider how your business or place of work could be more inclusive. Neurodiversity is a term that includes all of us. It’s time we start to consider the needs of every person. Neurodivergent or not, we’re all individuals with individual needs and requirements. We all deserve to work in an environment which advocates for inclusivity and comfort.
