June is Cancer from the Sun Month, a time to raise awareness about skin cancer prevention. Roofers, like everyone else, are at risk due to sun exposure. Let's prioritize sun safety and protect ourselves. Here are a few tips: ☀️ Wear sunscreen, even while driving. Reapply frequently with SPF 30 or higher to shield from UVB rays. Look for zinc oxide for UVA protection 🔆 Remember, most sun exposure happens during childhood. Keep your family safe taking precautions. 🌞 Roofers, who are constantly exposed, should take extra care. Wear hats, cover your neck, use long sleeves, and apply sunscreen daily. Regularly check for irregular moles or markings, as they may indicate skin cancer. Stay safe! #cancerprevention #sunsafety #RoofersSafety #guardianroofsandenergysolutions #roofing #roofers

You can work and play outside without raising your skin cancer risk by protecting your skin from the sun. Remember Sunscreen is only as good as you (re)apply it! Sunscreens can be physically rubbed of, washed of, and some of the active ingredients can break down over time. Learn more safety tips here: https://brnw.ch/21wKXym

Is it time for your sunscreen to retire? Sunscreen only lasts for around three years, if stored correctly. Expired or incorrectly stored sunscreen won't protect you against harmful UV rays. This will only increase your risk of sunburn, sun damage and skin cancer. To make sure you get the most of your sunscreen, before it expires: 👉 store it in a cool, dry place 👉 keep it clean and make sure you close the lid after use 👉 avoid direct sunlight when you store it, and when you take it outside. Q: Does sun protection still lower the risk of skin cancer in older adults? A: Yes! Protecting skin isn't just for younger generations. In fact, your skin cancer risk continues to increase until around age 85. In honour of Sun Awareness Month, here are the five ways you can stay safe in the sun at any age: 1. Stay in the shade. 2. Use sunscreen. 3. Wear a wide-brimmed hat. 4. Wear clothing to the ankles. 5. Wear a long-sleeved shirt.
