No matter what your job or your role, there are always good days and bad days. Today, started off as one of those "bad days". However, 2 staff members reached out today for no other reason than just to tell me something good that had happened in their day. One teams message started "Rae, just had an AMAZING meeting ... " and a voice note from another team member at the end of the day which started "I just wanted to tell you about my really good day ..." Those moments. They are the moments that turn a bad day into a very good day indeed :-) #teamworkmatters #positiveimpact

THRIVING THURSDAY Words and actions are powerful catalysts in shaping our professional and personal lives. As Gary Zukav wisely stated, 'For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. You receive from the world what you give to the world.' This principle isn’t just a law of physics; it's a cornerstone of human interaction. However, while the law of physics applies it also means that YOU don’t have to always react. Like I tell the people who attend my office hours l - “just because they throw you the ball it doesn’t mean you have to catch it.” When we choose words of encouragement and actions of integrity, the world reflects this positivity back to us. In a professional setting, this means fostering a culture of respect and collaboration, where every positive gesture has the potential to spark a ripple effect of goodwill and productivity. So, let's be mindful of the energy we project. Whether we’re leading a team or simply engaging with colleagues, our intentional, positive contributions can create an environment where not only success and kindness flourish but people feel seen, valued, and heard.

Keynote Speaker/Workplace Trainer at Brenda Clark Hamilton, MA Ed., Fresh Coffee: Professional Growth Programs
On Thurs., I was the last speaker of the day at a terrific conference for Wisconsin electric utility professionals. After I spoke my last word, the group's social hour began just outside the banquet room. I had spent most of the day with the group and had met so many kind-hearted and fun people. Had I not had to drive back to Iowa to speak the next day, I definitely would have stayed and savored having two beers with them! 😊 * * * * * * * * * * I had never heard of the 'Two Beers and a Puppy Test' until I ran across it this evening. The concept, created by Ross McCammon, is designed to provide a quick assessment of how you REALLY feel about someone by asking two simple questions: 1. Would I want to have two beers with this person? 2. Would I allow this person to look after my puppy for the weekend? If you are like me, after reading these questions, you immediately started plugging in names of friends and family and asking those two questions about them! The four people I immediately assessed were my husband, Chris, and our sons Alex, Jake, and Josh: "Yes, I would have two beers/wines with each of them, and I have." "And yes, I'd have no hesitations with any of them watching my puppy for the weekend." (In my case, my cat.) * * * * * * * * * * The two criteria that the 'Beers and Puppy Test' seems to assess are likeability and trustworthiness. I find it interesting that these traits fairly closely mirror what researcher Amy Cuddy found in analyzing what she calls 'Lovable Stars' in the workplace: those with high levels of both warmth and competence. Cuddy describes 'Lovable Stars' as those extraordinary individuals who we love working with, doing business with, and having as our leader. When I think of the many outstanding leaders I've been privileged to work with these last eighteen years, I can point to their well-honed people skills and trustworthiness being far and away more important than any book smarts that they have possessed. Likewise, when I look at leaders who have not been nearly as effective, almost always a lack of people skills and/or personal integrity were key reasons for their downfall. So, go forth this evening and start assessing everyone you know via the 'Two Beers and a Puppy Test.' I am honored to work with so many of you who clearly pass those two questions with flying colors! My sincere hope is that you can say the same about me. 🙌

President Biden’s visit with China’s leader about China’s proliferation of fentanyl was also backed up by our great President Biden defending America’s prescription drug authenticity when President Biden brought to the fore front China’s sales of the prescription drug presses for our U.S. expensive brand name drugs like “Zocor, Toprol, Synthroid, etc. Labs filing our Brand name prescriptions have cut costs and used generic or varied inert ingredients. Causing me to be advised by EMT’s not to take anymore of my medications filled by a Mexico Lab that I had started taking on 3/3/2023. I was advised to file an Iowa Pharmacy Complaint, which I did, but I have not heard anything is being done by Iowa’s Republican leaders, about labs using China’s Brand name pill presses to fill Iowans prescriptions. Foreign Less monitored labs that fill expensive Brand name prescriptions with unknown or generic or fentanyl laced ingredients. Can stamp out pills that contain ingredients that kill. Thank you President Biden for bringing this life-threatening issue with China’s dictatorial leader.
