Revenue Management, Tech & Innovation, and Research at Hotel Management School Leeuwarden combined with Hotel Manager role at Notiz Hotel =#happy days!
The first month back at school – time flies! And so many things have happened in the meanwhile at Hotel Management School NHL Stenden. #Studystartweek was organised by our students who dedicated their time to the Host Programme and made the first week before starting the new Academic Year, intense but unforgettable for the new students. In this week, I met briefly with most of the students for whom I am going to be a Coach. The kick-off of Project Move where 25 third-year students run five outlets during 20 weeks in which they guide 4x a new group of second- and first-year students. This initiative is the execution of how the project team of creating the Design Based Education, envisioned the curriculum to be. However, you cannot jump from the basement to the ceiling, and therefore it takes some time. In this, La Verne York, and the dedicated team of Practical Instructors of NHL Stenden Hospitality Group have a leading role in supporting the students in this unknown and challenging journey. In the meanwhile, a Revenue Competition in cooperation with Hotelschool Maastricht (Zuyd Hogeschool | Zuyd University of Applied Sciences) and Hotelschool Breda (Breda University of Applied Sciences) was organised which took place for 2 days in the last week, in an online (Teams) and offline (in Breda) setting. Many thanks to our 8 students of Hotel Management School NHL Stenden who voluntarily joined this competition in which they were mixed with the students from Hotelschool Maastricht and cracked 5 Revenue Management cases. In the end, one of the cases needed to be presented which was announced to the teams upon arriving in the room where the presentation took place. Many thanks to Luc Partouns, Frederic Toitot, and Stan Josephi for the great cooperation, and Robin Sleegers (RevControl) for taking part in the jury and Marianne Chrispijn special thanks for being a jury member and arranging the day in the real world at Odyssey Hotel Group for the winners of this competition: congrats to Jocelyne Majeau and her team (see pictures below). Totally different but also very interesting was the conference ‘van foto naar film’ about Programmatic Assessment taking place at Mauritskazerne in Ede where insights were shared on how to embed Programmatic Assessment in education. Well, we are doing a lot of things right, but still can improve which needs to start with: language 😊 Curious about what the next month will bring, though, I already know there will be a lot of Tech & Innovation involved, and we start with students in the RevSim simulation! No worries, I will keep you posted 😉

🚀 What a week as the Group Head of L&D at The Omni Group - Omni Facilities Management. It's been full steam ahead, and I’m thrilled to share some highlights with all of you! 🌟 📚 I've been deep in the creative zone, developing new course content and lesson plans. There’s nothing like building opportunities for growth and learning – it's what we thrive on! 📸 Between two exhilarating photo shoots, I’ve had the chance to step in front of the camera for some fresh headshots and team pictures with my fantastic team. Also, we got some dynamic action shots in stunning hotel settings – I can’t wait for you all to see what we have in store! 🎙 Exciting news for my podcast listeners: New episodes of "Say As It Is with Pete" are dropping tomorrow! Don’t miss it! 🌍 This week also took me out and about in London, meeting with our excellent ALOAH trainers Jevgenija Matsenko and Upday Singh. Seeing the dedication and passion our team brings to their roles is always inspiring. 🔍 Looking ahead, there’s no slowing down. Next week is packed with site visits as Andrei N. Badea, and I start visiting all our 145 hotels across the UK and Ireland, but that is not including my return visit to our amazing Dutch Team in July, planning sessions for Teaching and Learning, Apprenticeships, and exploring Strengthscope® even more as we 🚀 our Leadership Development Tool and grow our Strengths Culture of Awesomeness. In L&D, the learning never stops, and neither do I! Stay tuned for more updates, and keep soaring high, as this is your week, and you got this! ✈️ #LearningAndDevelopment #CourseCreation #BehindTheScenes #PhotoShoot #PodcastLife #SayAsItIs #TeamOmniFM #OnTheRoad #ProudToBeOmni #AlwaysLearning #NextSteps #YouGotThis #facilitiesmanagement #fhotels #training #sltchat #hrcommunity #DreamTeam #strengthsscope #strengthsdevelopment Images created using StoryTribe...
