How the Nordics became world leaders in heat pumps and saw carbon emissions from heating drop dramatically. My article for @CarbonBrief has the details 👇 https://lnkd.in/evjutktZ Regulatory Assistance Project (RAP) Crux Alliance
It is not the heat pump all by itself that makes the magic. Nordic countries (being Nordic to begin with) have extremely good thermal envelop. Retaining heat, is the second half of the equation.
Good development! How can we be sure that the energy (electricity) used to run the heat pumps is not coming from fossil fuels and therefore indirectly causing CO2 emissions?
Just read the article a few hours ago. Well this just describes what needs to be done in the UK to make it successful as these countries have done. Government policies, carbon taxation, research and development in heat pumps led to this transformation for these countries and following the same steps this can be done easily in UK as well.
Great data. This goes to disprove the urban myth that heat pumps don’t work in cold regions
The Nordics are leading the way! Great example for other nations to follow.

3wDon't overlook the major contribution of district heating to the decarbonisation of the Scandinavian building stock. Fortunately, more and more are also using heat pumps as a source.
