If you're young and early in your career, the number one thing is to get started. Create value, document work, put yourself out in the real world. Even if it looks bad. Even if this isn't your best work. That is the only way forward. Ryan Matlock shares his thoughts with Mitchell Earl:

“You can’t sail her with just two men. You’ll never get out of the harbour!” “Son, I’m Captain Jack Sparrow. Savvy?” - Johnny Depp in Pirates of The Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. So, what are you doing? Important but overlooked rule, this one. Go on, answer the question. What are you doing? To answer this, you need to have both long- and short-term plans. If you haven’t got a plan, you don’t have a map. If you don’t have a map, you’ll never find the treasure. If you know who you are and where you are going, you are indeed Captain Jack Sparrow – you’re a pirate and clearly so. Are you laying the ground work for that future promotion? Marking time until you decided what you want to do? Learning more about the industry to make a sideways move? Stealing ideas, resources, and staff to start your own rival business (Oh, I have seen this one and they made a good job of it, they knew exactly what they were actually doing). There are no right and wrong answers. ‘I haven’t a clue’ doesn’t cut it though. You have to know what you are actually doing. Not what you are supposed to be doing. Or what your company thinks you are doing. Once you know that, you can work miracles because you have secret knowledge. Unlock Your Path: Reflect on your journey. What are you truly doing? Craft your map—both short-term and long-term. Navigate with purpose, like Captain Jack Sparrow seeking hidden treasures. #KnowYourPath #SecretKnowledge #CareerNavigation #CareerWednesday

"In the world of business and professional relationships, the principle 'What goes around comes around' holds immense significance. Every decision we make, every interaction we have, and every choice we pursue can have a ripple effect on our careers and collaborations. When we act with integrity, treat others with respect, and go the extra mile to build genuine connections, we lay the foundation for trust and long-term success. Conversely, unethical behavior, shortcuts, or mistreatment of colleagues can eventually catch up with us, affecting our reputation and opportunities. Remember, in the interconnected world of business, the choices we make today can indeed come back to us, either as valuable partnerships or as challenges to overcome. Let's strive to make choices that reflect our professionalism and commitment to excellence, ensuring that what we give is what we receive in return.

The rigid folds of the corporate mindset are really showing how out-dated of an environment they create. Our work as a whole has shifted so much since Kinsey et al set this up that we should really look at a new model with flexibility for our people built in to all the processes that go into the product or service that we deliver. Optimizing for workers cannot be shoved into an excel spreadsheet. These are all great points of reflection in the article.
"I miss most of the people and none of the processes."
