If I mention UNESCO, you probably think of those breathtaking world heritage sites: the Taj Mahal, Machu Picchu, Christ the Redeemer in Rio, Yellowstone's Natural Parks, the Great Wall of China... and rightly so! ✨ [ I've had the pleasure of visiting one of these marvels twice, and it was an unforgettable experience. I'll let you guess which one ! 💁🏻♀️ ha .. ] But there's even more to explore ! Yes, these sites are part of the tangible cultural heritage, and #Tunisia, my country of origin, boasts 9 World Heritage sites. 𝐵𝑢𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡'𝑠 𝑛𝑜𝑡 𝑤ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝐼 𝑤𝑎𝑛𝑡 𝑡𝑜 𝑓𝑜𝑐𝑢𝑠 𝑜𝑛 𝑡𝑜𝑑𝑎𝑦. 𝗟𝗲𝘁'𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗮𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: 𝗧𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗮'𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 UNESCO. Here are the gems of our i͟n͟t͟a͟n͟g͟i͟b͟l͟e͟ ͟h͟e͟r͟i͟t͟a͟g͟e͟, along with the knowledge, skills, traditions, and practices they embody: 1. Harissa 🌶 : The fiery heart of Tunisian cuisine. 2. Pottery of Sejnane 🤲🏼 : A craft passed down through generations. 3. The majestic Date Palm 🌴 : A symbol of life in arid lands ;) 4. Arabic Calligraphy ✍🏼 : The art of writing, a dance of ink and imagination. 5. The Couscous meal 🥘 : More than food, it's a cultural staple. 6. Charfia fishing in the Kerkennah Islands 🐟 : An age-old method in harmony with nature. There are social and economic values of preserving and transmitting this knowledge. It's vital for both minority and mainstream groups, crucial in both developing and developed states... it really makes me happy❣ 😋 It's like squeezing all the amazing flavors of a culture into one exciting list ! My aim at ZOUZin is to showcase and share the richness that Tunisia has to offer. 👇 can you tell which one will be available in store ?

Twenty years ago, the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage was adopted by UNESCO. For the last two decades, the Convention has helped guide policy and actions for understanding, documenting, and protecting Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) around the globe. Pakistan ratified the Convention in 2005. ICH does not only represent inherited traditions from the past, but also contemporary rural and urban practices in which diverse cultural groups take part. These practices form a part of our living heritage, when recognized as such by the communities that create, maintain, and transmit it. Nobody else can decide the value of the tradition or practice for the community. Can you identify the ICH practices and traditions shown in this video? Can you name more ICH practices from among your family and community? #LivingHeritage #UNESCO #UNESCOPakistan #IntangibleCulturalHeritage

South Africa celebrates Heritage Day on 24 September each year to recognize and celebrate the country's rich and diverse cultural heritage. It is a day for South Africans to come together and learn about the different cultures and traditions that make up their nation. Heritage Day was first celebrated in 1995, a year after the end of apartheid. It was a way for the new South African government to promote national unity and reconciliation. The day is also an opportunity to celebrate the country's diverse cultural heritage, which is a source of pride and strength for South Africans. On Heritage Day, South Africans are encouraged to participate in activities that celebrate their culture and heritage. This could include wearing traditional clothing, eating traditional foods, learning about different cultures, and participating in cultural events. Many schools and businesses also hold special Heritage Day events. Here are some of the reasons why South Africa celebrates Heritage Day: To promote national unity and reconciliation.
