Here are a few ways we can recognize Memorial Day: • Moment of Silence: On Memorial Day, our Veteran’s Employee Resource Group asks you to consider pausing and observing a moment of silence and reflection. • Share Stories: Memorial Day offers an opportunity to learn about the courageous individuals who fought for our country. • Support Charitable Organizations: Consider organizing a charitable initiative to support veterans or military families in need. Whether it's fundraising, volunteering, or donating, we can make a positive impact and show our support for those affected by the loss of loved ones. The third and fourth of 7 charities we support through Values Inspired are War Child and World Vision. War Child is important to me because it reaches around the world to the worst, most war-torn areas to help children affected by conflict. World Vision is the charity I have been supporting the longest (21 uninterrupted years) and also helps children all over the world and has one of the best ratings for how much of funds raised actually goes to good works. From War Child's website: "War Child works toward a world in which no child’s life is torn apart by war. Armed conflict is a reality for millions of children today. War Child is committed to supporting these children to overcome their experiences, and have a real chance at a better future." From World Vision's website: "Grounded in more than 70 years of experience and expertise, World Vision works alongside communities, supporters, partners and governments to change the way the world works for children, focusing on three specific areas: emergency relief, transformational development and promotion of justice." The research shows that despite continuing challenges for charities, Armed Forces have continued to deliver robust valuable support to the Armed Forces Community.
