"I believe that having dreams and believing in them is relevant for both individuals and businesses. I request you to listen carefully to what Dave Chapelle is saying about being too drunk because he thought he was right. He talks about being a dreamer and understanding other dreamers, and also about setting boundaries for oneself, whether one is a man/woman or a business. Look for the relevance in his words. You can find the video at https://lnkd.in/gnv_bEUd."

Our newest addition to a carefully-crafted series with Liver King explores the modern concept of masculinity, a topic that sparks ongoing discussion and debate. Liver King weighs in with his own perception of what makes a man, a good man, in today's world, leaning on the combination of a powerful voiceover and emotive visuals that collectively articulate ideals of integrity, resilience, and strength. In this 60s narrative, he invites his audience to question their own perception of masculinity, and most importantly, whether their current definition is serving or failing them, in the pursuit of who they wish to be in the world. #1DSCollectiveXLiverKing https://lnkd.in/g24xmUU

Myths, legends, fables, fairy tales and magic “If you can’t take the heat, don’t tickle the dragon.” Invisible demons, angels, gods and devils are part of a creative synthesis human beings use to live in this world. Myths, legends, fables, fairy tales and magic must neither be erased nor enforced. Stories matter, even when creatively based upon invisible and imaginary beings and places. https://lnkd.in/gUnT6mMd “Hold On” by Tom Waits from the album ‘Mule Variations,’ 1999 Directed by Matt Mahurin Myths are supernatural or paranormal stories invented and passed down about how or why the world began. Legends are fictional stories and creative teaching tools with dramatic exaggeration. Fables are shared stories with learning lessons, and magical and miraculous human-like animals, plants, forces of nature or invisible invented gods. Fairy tales are creative stories, for kids and adults, involving magical, macabre and delightful good and evil characters, often resembling human beings. https://lnkd.in/gvNQtgVy “I’m for truth, no matter who tells it. I’m for justice, no matter who it is for or against. I’m a human being, first and foremost, and as such I’m for whoever and whatever benefits humanity as a whole.” ― Malcolm X “Come not between the dragon, and his wrath.” ― William Shakespeare, King Lear

#Storytelling Clint Eastwood's FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS is a brilliant exemplar of one of my key principles - the distinction between story and rhetoric. In a nutshell, US Marines scale Mount Suribachi on Iwo Jima in February 1945 to plant the Stars and Stripes, leading to huge morale boosting back home and (ironically) another month of murderous warfare that killed three of the original six flag bearers. The pretext that America is close to bankruptcy requiring the three survivors to tour the country to raise war bonds is a little thin. America would double in wealth over the complete era of World War II - a conflict that placed a refrigerator in every American home and a car in every driveway (leading to a still dangerous equation between war and commerce). Nevertheless I'm sure this was used as leverage at the time. After Guadalcanal, Midway, Tarawa, Leyte Gulf and a dozen other major victories, the threat deployed by the Gud Berger character that if more war bonds were not rustled up, the nation would have to make peace with the Japanese Empire is the flimsiest part of the screenplay. Nevertheless the film is a masterful object lesson in the vast difference between persuasion (any narrative will do) and true story (heroes who didn't feel like such or weren't even, desperately trying to process their actual memories). The fact that there were two flag plantings due to political concerns and confusion between the 'real' planters only exacerbates this dramatic conflict. The film also deploys a great tragic B Story in the story of Ira Hayes, a Pima Native American who displays massive courage on the battlefield but is refused a drink in his racist nation state, counterpointing and deepening this epic irony. The theme of true story versus political pitch is superbly shuffled through three temporal settings - the battle itself, the tour back home and the recent past of older, dying lives. It was hinted at by David Lean in LAWRENCE OF ARABIA, as TE Lawrence becomes a media hero while in reality revenging himself in slaughter after a brutal Turkish rape. It was expertly dramatized in ACE IN THE HOLE, where the reporter played by Kirk Douglas postpones the rescue of someone trapped inside a deep cave to maximize front page attention. The business world is a perfect mirror of FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS. Every success story is a war story in disguise. The PR department just wants the highlights. The collateral damage - environmental, sackings, customer exploitation etc - brushed under the mat. Persuasion convinces, but real story involves at a much deeper level. These nightmared men are not heroes for their country, they simply fought to save each other from sudden and gory death. As Maxwell Scott said in THE MAN WHO SHOT LIBERTY VALLANCE: “When the legend becomes fact, print the legend.” Clint Eastwood created an epic war film that exposed the artificiality of so much history and heroism, obscuring the true stories beneath. A master storysmith.

The silencing must stop…
Does America the Great censor voices? Does the Home of the Brave shy away from the past? Without Ruby Bridges, are we as brave? Without Dr. King, is it really liberty and justice for all? Without our values, are we who we say we are? Book bans are removing lessons of liberty, freedom, and bravery from schools across the nation. Without those lessons, students are missing out on stories that represent the core values we all believe in. That’s how winning is done.

"That's how winning is done!" Brilliant to see one of Rocky's speeches resonating with a younger audience, in this case a magical interaction with young 'Ro' who has memorised one of the great monologues from the 'Rocky Balboa' movie and recites it to his hero at the Rocky statue. Great to see 77 year old Sylvester Stallone get into the spirit of things and is still a role model and motivator. The legendary actor was in Philadelphia late last year for the inaugural "Rocky Day." If you need a pep talk about the power of resilience - look no further than this one: -- "Let me tell you something you already know." "The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows." "It's a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it." "You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life." "But it ain't about how hard you hit." "It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward." "How much you can take and keep moving forward." "That's how winning is done!" #KeepMovingForward #SlyAndRo #TheItalianStallion #Rocky Credit: 5am Secrets

Very powerful indeed. To all those "from the river to the sea" please take note: 1) Like Arnold says - it should be clear to you by the very fact that you are so embodied with hate that this is wrong. I know you don't want to read up on facts. That's a shame but at least recognize that the feeling driving you is hate - and that means you are being driven down the wrong path (listen to him; please) 2) Hate is the easy path = recognize that too. It's easy and you're having fun. But you will end up killing people as a proxy and you will end up a monster. 3) In Auschwitz 1.1 Million were killed. From the river to the sea means 8 Million should be killed. This is what you're supporting - nothing more and nothing less. [I've seen all kinds of "stop colonizing", "stop the occupation" - if you read the facts you would know Israel left Gaza almost 20 years ago - no one is colonizing anyone; go find another area to free if that's your agenda]. Hamas and Iran WANT 8 Million to be killed. Not only will they not blink if asked but they actively WANT it and actively DO it. What do you think Oct 7 is all about??? And they pay for it! At $10,000 per Isareli (which is the going rate) that will cost them $800 Billion. If you went to them and asked them to put up that amount to get rid of Israel, with a snap of a finger they would do it - no doubt at all. Chump change for them to get it over with. Maybe they will ask you to contribute too! But would you? Forget all the fun you're having with chanting etc -- how will you explain this to your kids one day? Will you really be able to rationalize it? You are not supporting freedom fighters. You are supporting homicidal maniacs that want to kill. They don't care about you either - they're just using you. Don't let them. From the river to the sea == 7 x Auschwitz
Everyone should listen to this powerful message from his experience growing up with a Natzi father. Arnold Schwarzenegger
