Here's the key: Develop PEOPLE relationships, not referral relationships. Focus on getting to know people. Be your genuine self and the cases will flow to you. If you start every conversation with "Can you send me cases?" then that's a sure-fire way to kill the possibility of ever getting a referral from that person.

Here’s a thought! Instead of reaching out on LinkedIn to ask for business why not see how you can pass on a qualified referral. It amazes me how everyone is “me, me, me”. How about “how can I help you”. Trust me this will earn you more buisness than just asking for it up front.
