Why do estuaries matter? These ecologically critical habitats, where rivers and oceans meet, are life-sustaining to countless species. When they suffer due to development or agriculture, the entire ecosystem suffers. Learn how The Nature Conservancy in Oregon is working to restore these dynamic habitats that are disappearing from the Oregon Coast.
There should be rules on density and development pacing so the habitats are preserved! Thanks for your work! Do you have a program in South Florida? I’d like to discuss an island, Bird Key for conservation!
I first became involved with estuarine environments as a young teacher. The Indian River in Florida. There is just something special when a black panther leaps out and goes for a sea turtle. These marsh habitats have the most unexpected features imaginable.
I throughly enjoy the estuary in Estero Florida. Fishing there takes you back in time. The bird life and mangroves are amazing, definitely took a hit from the last hurricane but it’s coming back strong.
How could I >volunteer< as a technical writer / editor / copyeditor / proofreader with TNC? I've already completed three habitat conservation studies for Conservation Northwest and Pacific Birds Joint Venture (one for Hawai'i wetlands, the other for wetlands in the west coast of North America.
Amazing initiative, I let here this pill about Estuaries in #venezuela
Congratulations on all the accomplishments! This is excellent work being done!
Yes they are!

1moRestoring healthy estuarine ecosystems is key here in NZ also. We have pushed agriculture right down through our former wetland flood plains and even re-claimed coastal marshes to a significant extent. It's time to work together and take every opportunity to improve on that situation.
