This has gone completely under my radar. This is devastation. We need to have a much stronger One Health approach than this. Human, animal and environmental health should be treated with equal importance. All should rally behind responding to such threats. Preservation of life on land and its biodiversity has a direct impact on human health. SDG 15.

According to the United Nations , up to 40% of world’s land is now degraded. That’s why Hollie Fallick and Francesca Cooper decided to turn things around. 👩🌾 👩🌾 While conventional farming continues to be the most important pillar of feeding a growing population, many farmers, just like Hollie and Francesca, are shifting towards #RegenerativeAgriculture. By adhering to principles like minimal soil disturbance, maintaining ground cover, and promoting biodiversity, they aim to regenerate the soil while producing more food. The two best friends and environmental activists are not only producing more and more nutritious food, but also contribute to a better future for generations to come. It is truly impressive to see how @GRAZEWELL is setting a high standard in how beef is raised and how the land the cows live on is being regenerated, for generations to come. Please take some time to read this intro by Anna Clare Monlezun, PhD on @Grazewell. Then watch the wonderful short video. This is @RegenerativeAgriculture on grazing land at its finest. Naturally a Solar PV Array could be installed somewhere on all this land without interrupting the regen ag process that is already happening. BUT......if Federal Regulations on Community Solar and solar generally would make it easier to install large Solar Arrays on Big Box Retail and their adjacent parking lots, then the movement to install SOLAR on agricultural land will not be as extreme. And doing REGEN AG would be all we need. Also most beef growing operations like the ranches that make up Grazewell have large barns with rooftops. The DOE and USDA need to help farmers + ranchers find ways to add SOLAR, through grants and incentives. #renewableenergysystems #solargrazing #AgriSolar #solarorwindplusstorage #renewableenergysystems

Nature underpins our ability to do business. And the loss of nature means the services provided to food and farming are under threat. Today we launch our report ‘Without Nature there is no Food’. Compiled by experts from the RSPB’s Fair to Nature scheme, which is the UK’s only certification scheme with a focus on biodiversity, the report explores the role that nature friendly farming has in protecting and reversing the loss of nature. Additionally, how Fair to Nature and the corresponding on-pack label can be used by brands as a tool to harness consumers’ buying power to deliver the transformative change needed in our food and farming system. Thankfully, the report, Without Nature There is no Food, also outlines the solution; if every farm made 10% of land available for good quality wildlife habitat, nature on farms could be restored and protected, ensuring that the essential services it provides are there for us all in the future. Without nature, there is no food. But the science is clear: nature in the UK and beyond is in crisis. As a human who relies on food to survive, this should matter to you. If you are a food brand or business owner, you have the power to make a positive change. Working with the RSPB Fair to Nature team has given me hope that there is an alternative approach to our current food system. I understand the debate about whether another certification/label is truly needed. But in a world where the news is bleak and it can feel overwhelming to know where to begin in trying to make the world a better place - schemes like this one provide science backed clarity on the steps needed.
