Fashion & Textile Forum in Helsinki 2023. #Marimekko might not be the biggest company out there, but being thoughtful, creative, and committed to #innovation, they do some very interesting things for the Finnish market. A few points from Tiina Alahuhta-Kasko, CEO & President of Marimekko, presentation at the Forum that were interesting to me personally: 1. Marimekko is the first company to have #love in its strategy (SCALE, which stands for Sustainability, Creative vision, (expansion to) Asia, Love and End-to-end digitality). Indeed, fashion, textiles, and lifestyle goods are part of the experience economy, where #emotions and #feelings matter. 2. The importance of #collaboration. For instance, Marimekko pilots close-loop production with Rester, collaborates on new materials with Spinnova, and experiments with natural dyes, among other things that contribute to sustainability. 3. This is very exciting: Marimekko has a pilot for #repairing and introducing #care products. Looking forward to see how this is going to work! #stjm #fashion #finnishfashion #textiles #marimekko #repair #care #sustainability #strategy

Bunko Junko, founded by Bhavini Parikh Bunko Junko, is indeed a commendable story of circularity that exemplifies sustainable and innovative approaches to fashion and #TextileProduction. By upcycling offcuts and pre-consumer waste materials, #BunkoJunko not only reduces the environmental impact of textile production but also promotes circularity within the fashion industry. By converting over 36 tonnes of scrap into usable products, Bunko Junko demonstrates the tangible impact that such innovative initiatives can have on environmental conservation efforts. #StoriesOnCircularity is an effort to recognise the climate action heroes of the textile and apparel industry who are investing incessant efforts in reducing waste through their innovative business practices. The video series will include stories of various entrepreneurs, start-ups, businesses, and individuals from across India. The video is part of ‘Approaches for Circular Textiles and Apparel Industry in India’, a project that seeks to bring material innovation, minimize harmful substance inputs, enhance textile-to-textile recycling in the textile and apparel sectors of India. It aims to identify the core challenges and gaps in the existing value chain and provide new sustainable manufacturing processes while improving current industry practices such as downcycling, recycling, and reusing. We made it to The Hindu!! Check out the article to know what we are up to!
We made it in the news!! "Late last month, as industry experts presented their offerings at Bharat Tex — one of the world’s largest textile events — two organisations from Bengaluru marked their presence with a rather unique offering: felt apparel, and accessories. The project is a collaboration between Hasiru Batte (an initiative by Bengaluru-based Hasiru Dala Trust) and The Good Felt. The latter is a project by Netherlands-based Enviu, an organisation that helps build new companies (such as Bengaluru’s Khaloom) across the clothing production chain that turn waste into value."
