March this year (2024) marked the 5th anniversary of the death of Andrew W. Marshall, long-time director of the Office of Net Assessment in the U.S. Department of Defense. On this occasion, one of the "apologists" of the Net Assessment methodology, Eliot A. Cohen, wrote an interesting article in which he mentioned the creator of the methodology and tried to describe its features. The topic may be interesting/inspiring for people dealing with the strategy of public and private entities. https://lnkd.in/gGvKwcDD

Today is the first day of recess. During my time as the Staff Director of the Senate Armed Services Committee, I would always prepare a reading list to tackle during vacation. Given the state of the world today, I recommend these three books: -Freedom's Forge by Arthur L. Herman (This is about the industrial base that defeated the Germans and Japanese and what we need to rebuild today.) -At Dawn We Slept by Donald M Goldstein, Gordon Prange, and Katherine V. Dillon (This is about not being as ready as you need to be in a troubled and unpredictable world.) -Inside the Five-Sided Box: Lessons from a Lifetime of Leadership in the Pentagon by Ash Carter (This is about a lifetime of key national security decisions.) #ReadingList #Defense

The truth is out there: We are not alone! We’ve all heard the conspiracy theories about aliens, Area 51, and how governments keep the truth from us. But the truth now comes out. Multiple government witnesses have revealed possible encounters with UFOs and alleged government secrecy surrounding the topic in a new eye-opening congressional hearing. David Grusch, a former military intelligence officer, talked about a multi-decade effort to retrieve and reverse-engineer UFOs that had crashed into the US. Others talked about how the US government was in possession of non-human biological materials, i.e. “alien bodies.” Additionally, former Navy pilots testified about their own UFO sightings in the military, and another whistleblower claimed that executive branch agencies purposefully kept Congress unaware of unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP). Basically, they were hiding the truth from each other, so forget the public. But as they say, the truth can’t be hidden for long. While Pentagon still denies these claims, a bipartisan group of senators led by Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has introduced an amendment to the defense spending bill to look into immediate disclosure of government records on UAP. Now it's only a matter of time, until we see the aliens for ourselves. Until the Men in Black get to us first. Check out the full scale of revelations on Thinkly. I’ve looked at the causes and consequences of multinational exercise in depth and find that Brian’s argument is both unique and very important. He persuasively argues that states’ openness to international trade is a powerful predictor of participation in US-led exercises, even accounting for alliance status and regime type. Understanding the economic interests of states on the fence about cooperating with the US military is just as important as assuring their security interests. Planners should get creative in leveraging the overlap between the two in the competition for influence (and more practically access and basing rights) against competitors.

🦸 #Whistleblowers are actually the superheroes of the corporate world. Keeping their identity anonymous, uncovering wrongdoing in major organizations, all for no personal gain – that's basically Superman. Like Superman, some whistleblowers turn our attention skyward: 🛸 Luis Elizondo, former US Army Counterintelligence Special Agent, shared decades of silently archived footage and encounters. One particular bit of footage showcased an unidentified object soaring against the wind, displaying aerodynamic capabilities far beyond our current known technology. 🛸 Christopher Mellon, a former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for intelligence, speculated on the origins of these UAPs, posing the tantalizing possibility that some might indeed have extraterrestrial roots. 🛸 David Fravor, former US Navy Commander, shared his personal encounter off the coast of California, where a saucer-like object defied known laws of physics. Whether we're discussing UFOs, corporate scandals, or political secrets, Whistleblowers are our Millennium Falcon, making sure the truth isn't light-years away. #EthicsandCompliance #Whistleblowing #Integrity
