In May 2024, ICC Prosecutor Khan announced applications for arrest warrants against senior Israeli officials with the advice of a panel of legal experts. Norman Menachem Feder argues that by using, and publicizing, the panel's results, Khan overstepped his authority.

ICC prosecutions are garnering heightened worldwide attention, both negative and positive. The thought with the linked article below is to provide background about the International Criminal Court history, who are and are not Member States, what, and how it decides cases, and whether it is/is not fulfilling its original purpose. This symposium proposes a change in the structures of international criminal law that could have similarly profound impacts on the overall field: the consolidation of residual mechanisms for ad hoc and hybrid tribunals – the bodies that carry out the tasks of these tribunals after their prosecutorial mandates have concluded – into a single residual mechanism. Judicial Control of the EPPO: the Role of the Court of Justice The eucrim website features an intriguing new article: Advocate General Anthony Collins writes about judicial control of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office, namely about the role of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU). The article examines the exercise by the Court of Justice of its judicial review jurisdiction with respect to the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO). It describes the CJEU’s activities within the framework of the Area of Freedom, Security and Justice – of which the European Public Prosecutor’s Office is a key element – before examining the Court’s jurisdiction to review the legality of measures taken by the EPPO as well as a number of pending cases in this context. The article is a pre-print from eucrim issue no 1/2024, which focuses on the European Public Prosecutor’s Office – the new EU body responsible for investigating, prosecuting, and bringing to judgment crimes against the EU’s financial interests. https://lnkd.in/ery76-xm #eucrim European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF), Thomas Wahl Anna Pingen European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO), #EU Der Gerichtshof der Europäischen Union, #CJEU #criminallaw Indira Tie, M.A. Anna Schaich

Associate Professor with Ius Promovendi at the International Institute of Social Studies, Erasmus University Rotterdam (The Hague Campus)
Amidst a lot of pontificating about what the current prosecutor of the International Court will, may or won't do in relation to alleged crimes in Palestine and Israel, there is little attention given to the systemic problems of the ICC - this is something I wrote a few years ago. Still relevant it seems. #internationalcriminalcourt #crisis #legitimacy #legallearning #legalmobilization https://lnkd.in/e-ENn8kY
