The Guatemala story is a great example of how infrastructure transparency safeguards such as CoST – the Infrastructure Transparency Initiative approach and tools help prevent investment loss. Read the story and reach out to us for a talk, this story is also an example of how infrastructure transparency is possible in highly volatile environments.
Our new infrastructure transparency story, published on the week of the International Anti-Corruption Conference, highlights the work of our first Latin American member, Guatemala. The Macdonald-Laurier Institute is opening up shop in Washington: it’s a Canadian think tank blacklisted by both Russia and China (which can only speak in its favour). “On November 14, the Macdonald-Laurier Institute (MLI) launched a new Washington-based initiative: the Center for North American Prosperity and Security or CNAPS (pronounced, ‘synapse’). As a part of the launch event, co-hosted with the Hudson Institute, MLI’s Managing Director, Brian Lee Crowley, delivered remarks outlining the desperate need for an honest, adult conversation between the U.S. and Canada, particularly on national security and energy policy. Brian’s speech is reproduced below with MLI’s permission.” (audio link included for those who prefer listening over reading) Topics include: Canada’s declining national security is a continental threat The importance of oil and gas Energy and global security Canada-U.S. energy interdependence The importance of partnership

Latin America is a region that witnesses comparably few inter-state wars, primarily due to complex terrain, cultural similarities, and highly urbanised populations. However, is conflict on the horizon for the region after decades of relative stability? My personal blog, SimpleNation, takes a closer look - read more below: https://lnkd.in/ePUuQqYG

The New West Economic Alliance! BC/AB/SK/MB Recently China has refused to get off coal & doubled down on their partnership with Russia! Our geopolitics are now more pressing than climate change ever was! It is time to reject the liberal made in China "Just Transition" to wind/solar/EVs built with coal and children! Canada does not need weather dependent energy-but cleaner than coal reliable energy like hydro/CANDU/natural gas. Globally emission reduction is required by all including Russia, India & China, not national carbon taxes! Forget National Politics Go For Economic Independence not separation! Create an interprovincial economic alliance that supports the export of inexpensive CDN cleaner than coal energy i.e. LNG/uranium/CANDU and made in the west products to the world! Support value added processing for both energy and food products produced in the west and marketed internationally. Above all support the re-industrialization of north America with a north to south orientation not east to west!

Belize joined in 1998 as a full member, while the Dominican Republic became an associated state in 2004 and a full member in 2013. All member states comprise a total area of 571,000 km² and about 59.77 million people. This is … Read More » #Flag #internationalorganizations #World
