What do The Magic of Motown, The Carpenters Story and Mania all have in common? They hark back to a bygone era of fun, nostalgia and music to make us get up, dance and relive the past. So often we’re told to focus on the future and not look back except to embrace the lessons from history. Yet as I browse through the upcoming events calendar for my town it’s full of tribute bands from “history”. It made me wonder, why are they so popular? Here are 3 key reasons that come to mind. 1. To celebrate an artist who’s passed on? 2. Their music is timeless? 3. We just love experiencing live music? What do you think?
