Congratulations to our first Freedom Rising cohort in Nepal, who've completed their final residential, focusing on collective action, how they'll continue to work together and share learning with each other, their organisations and communities. Two participants shared their reflections of taking part: “This program is unique from all the training programs I attended earlier. It impacted our lives deeply, changing our attitudes and behaviour. Though it does not seem visible when we are in a residential, it impacts a person unknowingly and makes them think about themselves and reflect. It changed me a lot." Female senior leader. “Now I am confident and able to voice my points and able to mix around with other people which was very difficult for me earlier.” Female survivor leader. Since Today is the first day of work for 2024, I wish to reflect on a recent memorable trip I made to the Kingdom of Tonga in November 2023 with fellow Youth Delegates across the Australia Pacific Region, to attend the Pacific Australia Youth Leadership Summit hosted by Pacific Australia Youth Association. Indeed, it's an incredible journey that I hold in high regard due to the fascinating, breathtaking, and memorable experiences that I had, esp. the place, people, food, culture, and systems (of the government, religion, society, etc.). I will discuss a bit about the Kingdom of Tonga, and in the next post will discuss the background of the Pacific Australia Youth Association and the role it plays in the Pacific esp. in the youth development space. Tonga, officially known as the Kingdom of Tonga, is an archipelago located in the South Pacific Ocean, approximately 3,300 km east of Australia. The Island national consists of 169 islands, 36 inhabited, and is spread over 700,00 square kilometers. The archipelago is divided into three main groups: Tangatapu, Hapai, and Vava’u. Nuku‘alofa, the capital and largest city of Tonga is situated on the main island of Tangatapu. Tonga society is deeply rooted in traditional Polynesian culture and is characterized by a strong sense of community, respect for elders, and the importance of family ties. Most of the population lives in rural areas, with close kit communities built around extended families. Christianity is the religion of Tonga, with approximately 90% of the population being Christians. The largest denomination is the Free Wesleyan Church of Tonga, also the state religion. Other denominations include the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Roman Catholic church, and the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The importance of the Christian faith is deeply ingrained in Tongan society, influencing many aspects of daily life, customs, and values. #YouthSummit #KingdomOfTonga #Experience

Award(s) winning Mental Health professional. Chair of Board of Directors / Trustees. 2024 Echoing Green Fellow & Transform Norm Fellow. Top 100 most Influential Young Africans 2023. Top 40 under 40 Women 2024.
🌟Celebrating Awards, recognitions and achievements 🌟 As I reflect on this time last year, I was truly humbled and honored to receive the "Invisible Giant Award" during the AAMA (All African Movement Assembly) by Africans Rising .This recognition marked a milestone in my journey as the youngest African trailblazer in social justice work 🌍🏆 However, I must confess, I didn't take the time to celebrate this achievement. I was among giants in the field including Mrs.Njoki Njehu makena mwobobia Executive director MSTCDC Tanzania, Charlotte O'Neal, and Madam Fatoumata Hallow, former Vice President of the Republic of Gambia. 🌟 But here's the candid truth - I never truly celebrated this accomplishment. 🎉 And I've gotten feedback from those close to me about my tendency to bypass and not acknowledge my wins, whether big or small. How many of us achievers have been in this spot, right? 🤷♀️ Currently I am in my self-celebration journey 🎈 I'm learning that it's okay to pat myself on the back, no matter the size of the achievement. It's about recognizing my progress, and it's a process in itself. So, let's humanize success, shall we? Let's remember that even the "invisible giants" among us have moments of self-doubt and growth. 🌱 Let's celebrate not just the big victories, but every step forward. It is shameful! Yes, it is shameful for you to have a dog or pet in the house that possesses discernment, whereas you, the owner of the house, don't. Do you know that some pets can sense when something good is coming their way? But the human who has a higher dominion might even be fighting against his personal progress through a negative attitude and a lack of discernment. That period of progress might be his season of causing confusion and crisis in his village or place of work. A man called Balaam had a donkey that sensed the divine presence of an angel, but he, the seer himself, couldn't see. He was even fighting his donkey (Number 22.23). Know that no leader can enjoy long-term success without a sense of discernment. Today, many women fight their husbands progress because of a lack of discernment. I have also seen many men who wickedly became obstacles to the progress of their wives because of a lack of discernment. Hello, Champion family! It's a new week. Make it a priority to not only think but also discern what is happening in your industry at a higher frequency. Won't it reward you more if you join my free masterclass and community of African emerging leaders and professionals on Telegram, Clearlift Africa? https://lnkd.in/djvCFvU3 Follow Dr. EDWIN ISOTU EDEH to learn discernment and activate a higher you. I recently realized that passion, optimism, and euphoria are not necessarily all that matters when it comes to making the best out of your vision, purpose, and goals. Generally, in everything else including academics, career, business, profession, and hobbies, there’s usually one factor that can’t be excluded and that is, developing the right skill sets and acquiring adequate knowledge to thrive in whatever niche you venture into. As much as I do have the passion for making a societal impact with respect to the welfare of children, women and indigents, I’ve learned that there are necessary informations, experience, and skills that should be acquired to facilitate and enhance my passion. As a matter of fact, “proficiency enables you to channel your passion in the right direction”. Having completed a course in “Community Organizing for Action” through the Young African Leaders Initiative(YALI). I can now say for sure that I’m more enlightened, knowledgeable, and exposed to concerns that I hitherto was oblivious of. Hence, concerning the issues of my passion which is making a societal impact, I’ve gained clarity and good understanding, and of course, by application of all that I’ve learned so far, my approach will be better. I sincerely appreciate the Young African Leaders Initiative(YALI), the organizers and the tutors respectively. The learning experience was worthwhile!

You've Got To Own It! Scripture: Take possession of the land and settle in it, because I have given it to you to occupy. Numbers 33:53, NLT Beloved, Have you felt a divine nudge urging you to step into something new, something bold, requiring faith and courage? Perhaps it's starting a business, returning to school, publishing a book, or stepping into ministry. Fear may paralyze you, but remember that even when God calls us, we face fears and uncertainties. Just like the Israelites had to take possession of the Promised Land, we must step out in faith. Embrace God’s promise in Numbers 33:53: "Take possession of the land and settle in it, because I have given it to you." Recognize that God has already provided what you need. Acknowledge your fear, trust in God’s provision, and take action, even small steps. The land is yours; the opportunity is yours. Own it! Provocation: What if we chose (today) to live in equitable interdependence with the living and non-living world? This is the provocation I asked during the Hakuba Forum last month. This provocation is meant for us to think both long and short term: How are we changing our ways of being today to be a good ancestor for those coming seven generations after us? I am grateful to have been guided in an exercise where I could engage the more-than-human world for advice and wisdom, and it has fundamentally changed how I walk through the world and how I consider my own interdependence with other living and non-living beings. How are you stepping into interdependence with the more-than-human world? What would it mean to live this provocation daily? What would that mean seven generations from now? https://lnkd.in/e3a6SQGB
