Did you know that Asia is considered a regional hotspot for antimicrobial resistance (AMR)? With the highest prevalence of resistance in major bacterial pathogens, this silent threat is on the rise in our region. While unseen, #AMR is a formidable threat to global health and the economy due to the decreasing effectiveness of medicines in fighting infections. The United Nations even warns that drug-resistant diseases could claim 10 million lives annually by 2050. Menarini stands together with World Health Organization to combat AMR and advocate for responsible use of antibiotics and other antimicrobial medicines. Let's safeguard our future together. #WorldAMRAwarenessWeek #WAAW #GlobalHealth

The 3rd Guinean Public Health Day ends on a positive note. We benefited from beautiful presentations that will inspire future actions in public health. However, it is important to highlight the low number of research carried out on health policies and systems in Guinea. Even if our context is characterized by the high frequency of epidemics of infectious diseases, it is in my opinion, essential for us to promote training and research on health policies and systems to better guide political decisions and health interventions in Guinea. Thus, strengthening our health system regarding diseases and epidemics. #hss

Pathogen surveillance enables public health professionals to monitor infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance. However, surveillance efforts are fragmented and incomplete. Our latest research, commissioned by the Novo Nordisk Foundation, explores how pathogen surveillance is carried out internationally, where the gaps are, and how they can be filled. Recommendations include: 🦠Building capacity and addressing logistical challenges 🦠Better use of data to enable more real-time surveillance 🦠Understanding of new data sources, like wastewater 🦠Greater collaboration between initiatives conducting surveillance Read the full report at: https://lnkd.in/erkW74KB #PublicHealth #AntimicrobialResistance

< A man in Hong Kong has been diagnosed with "Rat Hepatitis E", making it the first known case of this Virus in a Human. > This discovery is significant because it shows how diseases from animals can sometimes jump to humans. The patient had liver problems after a transplant, which led to the unusual diagnosis. It's suspected that the virus might have been transmitted through food contaminated by rat droppings. The man lives in a housing area with a rat problem, emphasizing the need for better public cleanliness. Health experts are calling this a wake-up call for improved hygiene and rat control in Hong Kong to prevent similar cases in the future. Should we take cautious about it too before it happens? This case highlights the critical importance of maintaining good public hygiene and controlling rodent populations to protect public health🌍🧼🐀 It seem never ending viruses after the pandemic🙄, what do you think? #PublicHealth #StaySafe #CleanEnvironment #WomenEmpowerment #StephanieYapUnitTrustAndPrivateRetirementSchemeConsultant #StephanieYapFinancialHappiness #StephFinancialHappiness #fyp
