I recently spoke at the Science for Policy in Europe Conference as part of a panel discussing the role of scientists, researchers, and evidence gatherers in providing reliable evidence to policymakers. Our Barometer Debate explored this crucial topic and highlighted the importance of accurate, trustworthy, ethical information in decision-making. As an expert in this field, I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this important conversation. #ScienceForPolicy #EvidenceBasedPolicy #Policymakers #Research #ReliableEvidence. It is time for the Bulgarian administration to learn how to carry out policy analysis and ex-ante impact assessments before instructing representatives in Brussels to vote “abstain" or “against" on green laws, but not only. https://lnkd.in/dNpiTUQz #eugreendeal #agriculture #farmtofork #Biodiversitylaw
EU Member States highlighted the importance of Science for Policy last week. The Council of the European Union has called to develop the concept of ‘Science for Policy’, as well as to promote the role of scientific and evidence-based knowledge and its cross-cutting integration in public policies. The Joint Research Centre (JRC) has been working on the concept of #Science4Policy for years. 📔Read our Handbook: https://lnkd.in/ea6-k9Xd

Our European Future Innovation System (EFIS) Centre team was present in person and online in the "Science for Policy in Europe" conference. Excellent discussions on the role of science in the policymaking process. Five key notes from the diverse panels: ✅ The need to reinforce the existing science for policy ecosystem, with focus on the #governance approach. ✅ A recall to recognise diversity of perspectives, backgrounds and #knowledge is very essential. The context-dependent approach is essential. ✅ Inclusion of society in the intersection of #science and society, in particular in face of #crises, understanding the role of societal values. ✅ The importance of including the policy dimension in ongoing and #future research. ✅ The need to include #young generation of scientists in the policy process. The System System Advisory Group is a new thing to look at how the science system works in New Zealand and make recommendations on what to change, what to introduce etc As cynical as some might be - there is an opportunity to put in a submission, check out the links below and throw it in by the 17th of May. If we want change, we should explain what is working , what is not & how we can improve it. https://ssag.org.nz/

How science is made available for decision-makers? The key role of knowledge brokers and boundary organisations. The European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) EU Science, Research and Innovation aims to integrate scientific knowledge as part of the European policymaking process. Do you want to learn more about it? Follow them on LinkedIn and Instagram. Here, an Instagram reel I was fortunate enough to support my JRC colleagues. The JRC is an excellent place to work! EU Science on Instagram: "Follow for more insights on the role of science in the EU policy. #Science is essential to making the best possible decisions. However, scientific knowledge doesn't always reach policymakers. How do we bridge that gap? We need knowledge brokers and organisations dedicated to this. That's exactly what we do here: our job is to integrate science into policy. #EUPolicy #EUSc
