We must keep the pressure on ➡️ Prioritise the green transition and economy ➡️ Prioritise just and equitable policies especially on big business and finance ➡️ Invest in public services ➡️ Prioritise equality and equity for all people ➡️ Be a leading soft power on the international stage calling for end of conflicts, increasing humanitarian aid and climate action #change #politics #Labour

August 26th is #WomensEqualityDay which recognizes when white women first earned the right to vote in the US and celebrates the birth of the modern feminist movement. Despite these gains 103 years ago, women are still underrepresented in leadership roles, earn just $0.82 on the dollar and have disproportionately felt the impact of Covid-19. Women’s Equality Day, celebrated on August 26, is a day to honour the women who fought for their right to vote and to advocate for equal rights and opportunities for all women. This day commemorates the adoption of the 19th Amendment to the US Constitution in 1920, which granted women the right to vote after decades of struggle and activism. Women’s Equality Day also reminds us of the ongoing challenges and barriers that women face in achieving full equality and empowerment in society and calls for collective action to address them. While there have been significant advances in moving towards equality for women, there have been some regressive steps as well. Women’s rights to control their own reproduction has suffered a major blow in the last year. we all need to commit ourselves afresh to achieving full and unqualified equality for all women in every country across the globe. #WomensEqualityDay #Equality #EqualRights #Challenges
