The combination of diverse energy sources and technologies can collaborate to enhance the flexibility, efficiency, and sustainability of our energy system. This is why the integration of energy systems is crucial in the context of revising electricity market design. Only through a fully integrated energy system can we effectively contribute to achieving the EU's climate goals. 🤝 Just easy as 1️⃣ - 2️⃣ - 3️⃣ ❕ In our joint statement with five other organisations, we urge policymakers to adopt an Integrated System Perspective to maximise flexibility by: 1️⃣ Embracing a technology-neutral and impartial approach for Support Schemes, ensuring that all technologies contributing to the EU's climate objectives are included. Let's not overlook any valuable technology. 2️⃣ Evaluating the implications of incorporating Capacity Remuneration Mechanisms into market design to ensure that investments in flexible capacity align with the Union's climate targets. 3️⃣ Advocating for the adoption of Capacity Mechanisms as a structural, rather than temporary and last-resort, instrument. This approach transforms Capacity Mechanisms into a stable and enduring tool for effectively managing our energy requirements. [IRIG NEWS] 💥 Green hydrogen: CEA-Irig partner of the PH2OTOGEN project Green hydrogen innovations are crucial in reducing CO₂ emissions and tackling climate change. A collective effort is essential to bring these technologies to market quickly. 📢 The PH2OTOGEN project aims to develop a clean, sustainable and cost-effective source of green hydrogen production by using solar power. The Ph2otogen team, involving 8 partners from 5 countries, is using advanced methods to find the best combinations of materials to achieve high efficiency in converting solar energy to hydrogen. The approval of the amendment to the Energy Industry Act by Germany's Bundesrat marks a significant milestone in the country's journey towards establishing a national hydrogen pipeline network. With this legislation, Germany is taking concrete steps to pave the way for a more sustainable and greener energy future. Establishing a regulatory framework for this €20 billion project underscores Germany's commitment to advancing hydrogen infrastructure and facilitating the transition to cleaner energy sources. The planned 9,700-kilometer core network will play a pivotal role in transporting green hydrogen from production sites to industrial centres, contributing to decarbonisation efforts across various sectors. One of our core values in European Energy is #Ambition. For me that means the ambition to change the world. It takes small steps to get the ball rolling. Last year the power and equivalent produced by facilities built by European Energy and Ammongas avoided approximately 0.5 million tons of CO2 equivalent emissions to the atmosphere (out of approximately 41 billion tons). We are ambitious, and we have what it takes to be the forerunners of the technological change, and thereby globally change the mindset about energy. Future Directions: Looking forward, the hydrogen sector anticipates further updates and new standards.
