My joy and my job are the same: save journalism and grow Scripps by mentoring, coaching, recruiting and hiring the next generation of journalists and media professionals.

To my friends in the local news business, and those students who want to be in our business, perhaps you've heard pieces of what my company, The E.W. Scripps Company, is doing in several of our markets with regard to local community reporting. We'd love to share with you an under-the-hood look at what we've built. We think in-depth community reporting is ONE of the futures of journalism, and it's definitely a little BACK to the future. Our webinar is Thursday, July 25, at 2pm ET, 11am PT. Sign up now to reserve your spot: https://bit.ly/3VFvsW0 Anyone is welcome to attend. Thanks to Marcus Riley, Vicki Bradley, Karen Lehr, and Colton Chavez for sharing their stories. Look forward to seeing you there!

BTW, if this wasn't clear above, when I say ANYONE can sign up for this webinar, I mean ANYONE. This means our competitors and our consumers. This especially means YOU!!!!

Please get someone to cover Yavapai and Coconino Counties in Arizona. The Sheriff dictates to one of the newspaper editors what to write or rather wording to be used in disclosing, if at all. We have to look to Prescott to get any local news. Luckily, Justin Lum from Fox10 news was in Sedona recently and reported on the Chief of Police. The communities are in the dark and have no idea due to the lack of transparency. We're a spread out rural area and I have 7 missing person cases within 40 minutes of me. It would be great to have someone who would truly report what's going on both good and bad. They need to have a "neighborhood" feel to them. I would love to see someone cover the Verde Valley all the way to the Navajo Nation. That isn't happening. No suits. It's the desert. Thank you!

Thanks for posting Chip. Can't wait for this one!
