Can you briefly tell us about your background?  I was born and raised in St. Louis and Regency was actually my second job right out of college. Growing up, I played every sport imaginable so my competitive nature is what drove me to be in sales. Regency was the perfect fit for me because I could combine this competitive nature with my knack for relationship building and being able to connect with all of my prospects and customers. 2. Please confirm how long you've been a part of the Regency family? We'd love to hear about a memorable moment from your sales journey at Regency.  I started with Regency in May of 2016, and have been a part of the Regency360 family for just over 7 years. There are quite a few memorable moments, but what sticks out are the annual conferences we would attend. It was always exciting for me to connect with my colleagues and get to enjoy new destinations, as well as learning more about our product lines! 3. What is the last song you listened to? We're all curious music enthusiasts!  My spotify is a mixed bag... haha. I listen to everything from rock to rap, country, oldies.. the list goes on and on. The last song I listened to was Everlong by the Foo Fighters. 4. If you could go to the Olympics and compete in any sport, what it be?  It would probably be swimming. I never swam competitively growing up but it always fascinates me watching how smooth and fast those athletes are in the water 5. What's a piece of advice or a life lesson that's had a significant impact on your career or personal life?  My parents always taught me that if you work hard and do the right thing, good things will happen. Welcome to somewhere in the Mediterranean 🌊 I love sea days on a ship, because it brings back memories of 10 years I worked on ships, but also because it's a perfect example of how we LOVE to buy. I'm sat here now having a coffee and: - The shops are full - The Casino is already getting busy - Luxury watches are selling - The spa if fully booked - Artwork at the value of a 4 bedroom house in Hertfordshire is being auctioned Sure enough, we're in the midst of a financial crisis (recession) and yep, it's terrible what's happening in most of the world. But, in sales (which I teach and have done for 10+ years), you can't let an inch of negativity creep in or it will sink the ship (pun intended). What most also don't realise, you can be deeply compassionate about what's happening around the world and still go and sell thousands, if not hundreds of thousands per month of your product and service. In fact, it's necessary to be both. Selling from our own pocket or worrying about the finances of others, stops you from achieving the best thing of all.... Helping the client in front of you right now. I've always believed, when you stand for your product, know it can create change, you have a responsibility to sell it. After all, sales isn't what we think, because the best salespeople you never know they're selling, it's simply a conversation.

Reality check post - sales is a lifestyle, not a job. I’ve had a great day today - a looooong drive (by UK standards, anyway), although I don’t actually mind this as it provides time to reflect and learn, a visit to a prospect with an incredibly cool product (can’t say more due to NDA), and some great food discovered in a tiny independent brewery. Ultimately, though, it amounts to this picture. Alone in a hotel room for the night. I have two boys at home who I love more than anything. It’s hard being away, but when I put it in perspective it is only for a night and, at the end of the day, it’s all for them. That’s exactly how I motivate myself; when the days are good, they benefit. When they aren’t so good, sod it, move on, because I need a good day for their sake. You build relationships through meeting people. Covid and Teams has changed the way we do that, but in my view, F2F is the most effective way to do this. But with this comes personal sacrifice. Keep it all in perspective and balance, and I believe you can juggle a busy sales lifestyle alongside bringing up your own little investments. #sales #salestraining #business

In sales, perspective is everything. Having worked in various industries, including food service, I can confidently say that sales is the toughest job out there. From doors being slammed in your face to long drives and solo meals in hotel rooms, the challenges can be brutal. But for those who make it look easy, they have a different perspective. They rely on their network, helping each other out and sometimes putting competition aside for the greater good of camaraderie. What was your first sales job and what did it teach you? 🤔 When I left full-time education, sales wasn't a career path I would have chosen being an introvert and socially awkward!! However, I fell into sales whilst backpacking in Australia back in 2001 as I needed funds to continue my travels. The only job I could find was selling stuff from a suitcase 'door-to-door' in Perth, Western Australia. 🐨 Think an Australian Del-Boy! 🤣 I had to be in the office at 7.30 every morning, 6 days a week with the aim to knock on 100 doors and make $100 a day (then you get to ring the bell). It was also COMMISSION ONLY. 🤑 Let's just say it was character building! 😀 Below is a picture of me whilst on a 'road trip' to Margaret River and the 'Giggle Bugs' we sold and we sold them all!! 💪 So what did I learn..... Every morning we had a sales meeting and a pep talk to give us motivated for the day ahead and there were a couple of sayings that I will never forget. 📢 'Your attitude dictates your altitude' - I loved this as it helped me build resilience by trusting in the process, putting me out of comfort zone and that hard work can get results! 'Every door, every floor in every store' - Door to Door sales is a numbers game and it is important to maximising selling opportunities. You understand that not everyone will buy from you, but the people that do maybe behind the door that you least expect! I also learnt the importance of trust and building a rapport which is hard to do when selling door to door! People didn't always buy from me, but they bought from me when I had a product they liked (like the giggle bugs....they went down a storm 😁). Sometimes it was all about timing! Today, my approach to sales is very different but the principles are the same.
