The Green Park Business Leaders Index 2024 found that Chair, CEO and CFO roles in the FTSE 100 have all experienced an increase in female representation during the period 2013 to 2023. Is DEI becoming too political? Here's why it should be about people, not politics. Our commitment to building an intentionally inclusive and diverse workforce goes beyond just checking boxes—it's a core value that drives our success. I want to share a story that underscores why this commitment is essential and how it transcends any political debate. A few years ago, a former team member questioned the value of our focus on diversity and inclusion. He didn’t see how it could benefit our company. To illustrate the importance of this commitment, I shared the story of one of our current team members of Polynesian descent. This team member has culturally significant tattoos and long braided hair, which were once in conflict with our old company policies. These outdated policies would have limited his ability to be hired, and we would have missed out on his incredible contributions. Recognizing the need for change, we updated and revised our policies to be more inclusive. This allowed us to welcome a more diverse workforce, bringing in new perspectives and talents that have enriched our company on many levels. It’s important to acknowledge that diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) have become contentious topics in some circles, often politicized and misunderstood. However, at its heart, inclusivity should never be a political third rail. It's about respecting and valuing the unique backgrounds and experiences each person brings to the table. By embracing diversity, we've not only created a more inclusive environment but also enhanced our creativity, innovation, and problem-solving abilities. Our team is stronger, more dynamic, and better equipped to serve our clients and community. DEI is not just a buzzword—it’s a fundamental component of who we are and how we succeed. I’m proud of the progress we’ve made and committed to continuing this journey of inclusivity, ensuring that everyone feels valued and empowered. #Inclusion #Diversity #Workforce #CompanyCulture
