The size of the deal–it was a multi-billion dollar carve-out from the seller–and the number of people, facilities, cultural differences and systems involved, suggested a potentially rocky road to success. Both companies had global footprints in over 35 countries, a combined workforce of 15,000+, and hundreds of thousands of customers.
