Game Changer. Mobilizer. Builder and Scaler of Innovative Companies. Dynamic Business Leader. These are just of the words to describe my guest this week on The CMO Whisperer Podcast, Ashley Miles, CEO of Franklyn West, a new era business growth advisory and execution firm. Formerly Global Chief Business Officer at Thrive Global, reporting directly to Founder/CEO Arianna Huffington, Ashley is also the mother of two young girls and is proud to help women claim their power in business. Among the many things we discussed... 👉 Liquid Talent. What is it. Why it is so important for CMOs and brands alike to acknowledge it and how to benefit from it. 👉 The CMO model that she sees many CEOs bucking. 👉 The future of Retail Media Networks. 👉 The one person from history she would want to have coffee with if given the chance. 👉 And of course, MUCH more! "Find a company or - heck - create your own company that has clear performance metrics. So it's not about who you are or what you look like - but what your performance is." - Me When it comes to how your workplace evaluates you (or even hires you), you need to look for objective, not subjective, measures of performance. Perhaps more now than ever, women in the business world don't fit a mold. We don't look like or act like others... and so if we're stacked up against others subjectively, it can have a negative impact on how we are perceived. Set yourself up for success by working for a company (or building one) that uses clear performance metrics as a baseline - and then show them what it looks like to outperform. 💪 p.s. I'm honestly so proud of this podcast episode so please give it a listen and let me and the brilliant Krissy Manzano know what you think! #womeninbusiness #womenleadership Blueprint Expansion

While everything in the world has changed, the only thing that has remained the same is the approach the industry often takes to building great cultures with engaged, high performing teams. When money is flowing and a good time is had by all, it’s easy to throw money at problems to make them go away, especially something as seemingly soft as culture. NOOOO way. If that’s the math you’re doing, then you’re mathing all wrong. A long time ago, Gabe Krajicek of Kasasa once said, “culture is like insurance when things go wrong, because they always do.” I LOVED hearing it put that way, especially from a CEO who had built a truly unique and special culture that continues to pay forward today. As a Leader, you either pay with your time, attention, and intention, or you’ll pay in actual cold hard cash and missed opportunity for longer. Lots of companies built hybrid or fully remote teams that were engaged, capable of outperforming expectations in the “before times” 😳and many will continue to do it beautifully today. Just make sure you’re running the right play. “Perks and programs” does not a culture make, but sure, sometimes they help. Connection. Meaning. Impact. Growth: Consider it a cheat sheet to return to when asking yourself how to build an engaged, aligned, adaptable, high performing team. I so appreciate any time Kurt Wilkin let’s me go on and on about something I really care about: building great teams and cultures through people, never around them. P.S. yes, it is true that I must have dinner with Iron Mike before one of us kicks it. So, whichever one of my dearly beloved LinkedIn connections has the hookup, you know where to find me. 😉🥊
What are the keys to building culture in your business? Connection, Meaning, Impact, and Growth On this week's #UnlockingMoves I talk to my good friend (and my go to resource for all things culture related) Autumn Manning. When she became the CEO of YouEarnedIt in 2013, she looked around and didn't see many female leaders in Tech - now, her story is inspiring others! If you want great advice on building and sustaining culture in your company, how to approach VCs, and which hat to wear on Kurt's podcast, you won't want to miss this episode! 🔊 Now Live: 🔊 Apple: https://lnkd.in/gZztUb5n Spotify: https://lnkd.in/gVxYzQZq YouTube: https://lnkd.in/gePe8atc

Austin has the most amazing rising entrepreneurs. The men and women who have taken companies out of "start up phase" and are growing companies that are beginning to rise to success are what is going to make the future of Austin great. ATC gets the chance to meet these growth oriented "NEXT GENERATION" company leaders, and each time we encounter these hard working visionaries, I know why Austin's tomorrow will be more spectacular than our past. Who are the leaders who are not yet household names who make you say "WOW- They are doing it" ??? We would like to know them, and maybe feature their story on the Austin Tech Connect podcast. Please tag them or make the introduction. Are you a regular listener to the "Austin Tech Connect" podcast?
