We are happy to announce the recent graduation of 15 veterans and 7 active duty transitioning service members from the Class-A program at the Fort Cavazos Campus. These individuals have successfully completed the rigorous four-week program, leveraging their military experience and the expertise of our veteran instructors to earn their CDL-A licenses. Their achievements are particularly commendable given the challenging summer conditions ☀️ We deeply appreciate their honorable service and sacrifice for our country and are excited about the employment opportunities that await them as newly licensed CDL-A holders! If you are interested in the transportation industry and seeking a rewarding career, consider our first-class program. Our graduates can earn up to $1,400 per week, and we pride ourselves on securing pre-hire employment opportunities prior to graduation. Transitioning out of the military can be scary. That's a well-known fact. Another well-known fact is we have an entire dedicated military outreach team here at Deere for the sole purpose of making it a whole lot easier. How do we do that? When you go to Deere.com/JDMHP and fill out a contact card according to your interest in types of roles and locations, you are assigned a personal one-on-one go to liaison for navigating those opportunities and help answer any related questions or concerns. Have a question on what types of roles are in your locations of interest? We have answers for that. We have tons of opportunities nationwide at our major manufacturing facilities/offices or through our dealership network. Have a question on how far out you can gain approval for a DoD SkillBridge/CSP Internship or how your terminal leave, separation dates, or questions about the application process relate to your unique situation? We got that covered too! Connect with our team through filling out a contact card at Deere.com/JDMHP and let us connect with you to show how we can best custom fit a roadmap just for you. With Veterans Day last Saturday, we not only honor those who have served but also reflect on the rich insights their experiences bring to education and the workforce. An engaging article from Inside Higher Ed spotlights the parallels between military training and the potential for higher education to embrace a competency-based approach to learning outcomes: https://buff.ly/3QAY4gI The military's methodical focus on competencies – specific skills, abilities, and knowledge applied in real-world contexts – exemplifies a powerful framework that higher education can learn from. It’s about valuing what students can do with what they know, not just the knowledge they've acquired. At America Succeeds, we are passionate advocates for educational experiences that cultivate Durable Skills. These are the competencies that withstand the test of time and technological advancement. By drawing from the military's example, colleges can better prepare students for a workforce that prizes critical thinking, adaptability, and leadership. As we extend our deepest gratitude to our veterans and service members, let's also pledge to promote a learning model that recognizes and values the breadth of their experiences. Join us in championing a future where education is as dynamic and resilient as the students it aims to empower. Because when we recognize and validate a diverse range of competencies, we not only honor the service of our veterans, we also pave the way for their success in civilian life. #VeteransDay #CompetencyBasedLearning #HigherEducation #MilitaryTraining #DurableSkills #AmericaSucceeds #ThankYouForYourService

Companies and industries can learn from this initiative and look for their ways to further their mission, takes into account the views of key stakeholders and be good corporate citizens. Doing what’s right is more important than a politicized ESG rating. Helping veterans transition into the workforce should always be on the short list of what’s right to do. Kudos to the medtech industry for MedTechVets and to the construction/design industry for ACE Mentor Program of America.
