Ring in the new year by helping to protect the nature that needs it most, whether through a donation, like, or share! 💚 While protected on paper, many national parks and UNESCO World Heritage sites lack the resources and funding to ensure the region is monitored for illegal activities. So, while these vast natural areas have become the last habitat for wildlife and nature, they are also at a higher risk of destruction. Your support (in any form) helps us fight to preserve these ecosystems: https://lnkd.in/g-_QTj_7

Saving Africa’s wild lions. You can help save African lions! Africa’s free-roaming lions are under threat from human-wildlife conflict. These lions are an essential part of the continent's ecosystems, its tourism industry, and its livelihood. Thankfully, the Southern African Conservation Trust (SACT) and partners have embarked on a project to conserve lions. They require GPS satellite collars to develop lion management plans. They also provide an early-warning system to local communities about the whereabouts of lions, allowing them to react quickly to potential problems and avoid human-lion conflict. You can help to save these wild lions by making a contribution to SACT through our Collar a Lion campaign Find out more about how you can help save free-roaming lions and what your sponsorship will include here: https://lnkd.in/dDGeCDbc Image: © Brian Courtenay Southern African Conservation Trust Trans-Kalahari Predator Programme #saveouranimals #animals #saveourwildlife #conservation #donate #collaralion #lionconservation #lion #bigcats

Dear Network Friends in Canada ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ As Operations Director at A Rocha Canada, I’m writing today to ask for your help for one of our best defences against biodiversity loss and climate change. 🐝 🦉 🐞 🐟 🦅 Wetlands. They’re essential. And they’re disappearing fast. This story doesn’t have to end in loss. With your help, we can restore key wetland habitats and regain their countless benefits. Would you make a year-end gift to restore wetlands with A Rocha Canada? Our conservation scientists estimate that on average, it costs just $32.90 CAD to restore and protect one square metre of wetland. Because of the generosity of a matching donor, your year-end gift of $32.90 CAD will restore two square meters of incredible habitat! Double your impact to save two (or more) square metres of wetland this Christmas! Why Wetlands? ➡️Wetlands play a unique and essential role in the health of our planet. A few of the reasons we need to save our wetlands: 🌿 Wetlands provide homes to countless at-risk plants and animals. If you want to save endangered species, invest in wetlands. 🌿 Wetlands reduce the impact of both floods and droughts. If you want to reduce extreme weather threats, invest in wetlands. 🌿 Wetlands improve water quality by filtering out toxins. If you want clean water, invest in wetlands. 🌿 Wetlands keep huge amounts of carbon out of the atmosphere. If you want to fight climate change, invest in wetlands. 🌿 Around 70% of the wetlands in southern Canada have already been damaged or destroyed, but we are not too late to reverse the trend. Why Give Now? 📢 Your gift before midnight on December 31 will be matched to double your impact, making a huge difference for wetlands and other vulnerable habitats in 2024. Would you donate today? If so, please donate here: https://lnkd.in/dtknhHaJ Restoring a wetland is slow and requires long-term community commitment. But your gift will, over time, lead to transformation—for wildlife, for people, and for the planet. P.S. Canadians: Don’t forget to donate by December 31 to receive a 2023 tax-receipt!

Guardians of South Georgia, regular givers, are helping to conserve albatrosses; supporting regular population surveys and research to understanding the birds’ distribution at sea whilst foraging. South Georgia is a globally important breeding site for various species of albatross, but habitat use by some threatened species is poorly understood. Using satellite tags that will enable us to track the birds in near-real time, Light-mantled Albatrosses will be monitored year-round. This will help determine whether their recent population decline at South Georgia is due to a change in distribution or their habitat use. Guardians of South Georgia make a commitment to play a lasting role in the preservation of South Georgia – its wildlife, environment, and cultural heritage. Can you make GivingTuesday ‘Guardian Tuesday’ and join as a Guardian of South Georgia right now? ⚠️ Urgent Alert ⚠️ The wildfires tearing across Hawaii right now are tragic. Destroying precious wildlife habitats and posing an immediate threat to the lives of the people and animals residing in these areas. Ranked amongst the deadliest wildfires in recent history, the fires of Hawaii are a harsh reminder of the power of nature. Savage fires have left their burn scars on thousands of acres of land, painting a grim picture that depicts the horror of our environment in crisis. 🔥 On the frontline, brave firefighters and volunteers are putting their own lives at risk, showcasing collective human behavior at its very best. Communities are banding together and coming to each other's aid, proving how adversity brings out resilience & unity. 🌴 Yet, amid all of this chaos, we must remember that these terrains are home to unique species of flora & fauna, many of which are not found anywhere else in the world. These fires not only displace them but also bring these species to the brink of extinction. ❗Let's not let these events simply pass by in our newsfeed. We all have a part to play; whether that be spreading awareness, donating, volunteering, or advocating for better policies & practices. If this can happen in Hawaii, a place known for its lush landscapes & serene beauty, this can happen ANYWHERE. We need to act NOW to protect our shared planet. #HawaiiWildfires #ActNow #GlobalWarming #SaveOurPlanet #ClimateChange https://lnkd.in/g99JxMUf
