One of few specialists in Inter-Generational Diversity, the Emerging Science & Management Skill of maximising Engagement, Collaboration & Productivity within and across Five Distinct Generations in today’s workplace.
Are you over 55? Then you’re probably being left behind when it comes to training! Writing in HR magazine, Honey Jane Wyatt shares a report from training provider Corndel. This shows 75% of over 55s ‘had not received human management training for skills such as empathy, mental health awareness and emotional intelligence in their current roles.’ In addition, 55% hadn’t had any technology training, particularly in new tools like ChatGPT. David James, Chief Learning Officer at 360Learning, points out that with the ever-increasing pension age, ‘people are staying in work longer…it’s important that they receive regular training so they can continue to thrive in their jobs and contribute positively to their company.’ James Kelly. CEO of Corndel sums this issue up. If we don’t regularly upskill older workers, he says ‘employers are missing out on the incredible value this generation can contribute.’ Makes sense to me. Who says that once you are over 55 you no longer need development or new skills? More than that, given that many organisations find it hard to attract candidates with the right skills and attitude, why wouldn’t you want to train up your current staff of all ages? https://lnkd.in/ef5HwS_s

International Motivational Speaker @ Mike Stevenson | Empowerment : Solution Finding : Creativity : Future of work ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Employee learning at its best At the end of January 2020, I spoke on three successive days in three English cities. Each was a success. The first was with a Global company with what I consider a model approach to employee learning. The L&D team wanted each subject area to fit with the lives, priorities and aspirations of their staff. Each employee had a learning passport which was then stamped after each attendance. I especially liked that each contributor had to bring the insight of lived experience and was asked to stay around and dedicate time to individuals and their personal concerns. My contribution spread over two sessions played to packed audiences. I talked about how I've survived a series of mental health storms. Conversations followed. Why mention this now? On Friday, exactly four years later, I received this email. Here’s how it begins. ‘You will not know this, but you are our highest rated speaker ever. Your name comes up frequently in management meetings and I should inform you also that you scored highest in each category. Our employees truly appreciated that you stayed and spoke to so many of them about their personal concerns. Now we hope you can return in April. We have recruited another 200 people since you were here and those who attended your previous sessions will, I am sure, be delighted to hear of your return. The challenges of …. When you connect with people, they listen, they absorb, and they are inspired to learn more. The best employee programmes make this happen. #mentalhealth #employeedevelopment #learning #inspirationalspeaker #hrcommunity #HR #learninganddevelopment #livedexperience

In a new study put out by LMS it was found that 76% of employees say they’re more likely to stay with a company that offers continuous training. 55% percent say they need additional training to perform better in their roles, and 44% stated they are pursuing training on their own because they want to stay competitive in the job market. According to the study, 78% of employees find it important that they receive life skills training. This lined up nicely with the 77% of HR managers surveyed who said the same thing. https://lnkd.in/gZmuEnnU
