This Company Created a Return-to-Office Plan That Employees Actually Like - WSJ "Smucker has adopted a return-to-office strategy that is unusual among U.S. companies. The company expects its roughly 1,300 Orrville-based corporate workers to be on site as little as six days a month, or about 25% of the time, depending on their roles. Employees are told to hit that threshold by coming in during 22 “core” weeks a year. Many employees can live anywhere in the U.S. so long as they pay their own way to get to Orrville for core weeks. This has led to a growing group of super-commuters who reside elsewhere but work in Orrville." https://lnkd.in/ga-wYHsg

The jig is up for federal employees making big bucks sitting on their rears in pajamas enjoying years of not having to go into the office Because Of Covid. "We love to work at nothing all day." "Takin' Care of Business" Bachman Turner Overdrive LIVE! Watch: https://lnkd.in/eHymgXzZ Quoth the Raven: "Nevermore." Axios got its hot little hands on an email WH COS sent to email sent Friday to every Cabinet members. Jeff Zients: "We are returning to in-person work because it is critical to the well-being of our teams and will enable us to deliver better results for the American people." "As we look towards the fall, and with the end of the COVID-19 public health emergency, your agencies will be implementing increases in the amount of in-person work for your team. This is a priority of the President — and I am looking to each of you to aggressively execute this shift in September and October." Or else, Mayorkas... Execute. Aggressively. US Government Accountability Office found: "17 of the 24 federal agencies used on average an estimated 25 percent or less of the capacity of their headquarters buildings." Outrageous waste of taxpayers' dough.

Consultant to the Flex Office Market providing advice to both Landlords and Operators in getting the highest value from their location.
You know what's wrong with this picture? Civilian employees who work for the US Federal Government agencies do not want to go back to their commutes to work. Many of these employees were commuting over one hour to work and on some days over one and a half hours each way to work. That's not right to force them to travel that distance to do the same work they have been doing since the pandemic began. The Federal Government was well prepared for the pandemic as they made a quick pivot to their telework through their technology hub. More importantly, GSA issued a #RFP back in 2019 for #FlexibleCoworkingServices and they awarded 5 companies to supply adequate spaces for remote work including LiquidSpace Deskpass @TheYard and WeWork. The objective of this #RFP even before the pandemic was to reduce the Federal Government's dependency on leased office space being under-utilized as part of the Federal Government's objective to reduce the office inventory occupied by Federal agencies. I understand the reason behind getting these buildings filled with people, but if you think about it, it makes no sense to make people commute long distances to do the same work they can complete efficiently either at home or more convenient to home. You want to reduce our carbon footprint, then US Government Accountability Office and US Federal Government including the U.S. Department of Labor and GSA need to start utilizing their initiatives including the GSA's #InnovationLab and #Hybrid Work Plan. Even mandates from the #President of the United States won't work at this point. Especially if you consider that civilian employees for the Federal Government have a lot of opportunities to go work in the private sector for better pay. What the President should be doing is creating a public-private partnership between @GSA and local governments where most of the office vacancies are located, including #WashingtonDC #Philadelphia #SanFrancisco #Chicago #Manhattan #Denver and others and discuss issues confronting our urban cities from Tax revenues to vacant buildings and develop incentives similar to the old U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development #UDAG grants and even #TitleIX urban communities. There is nothing better than bringing great minds together to solve current urban issues. This could piggy back on to the #infrastructureinvestment by the Federal Government as well. Thoughts?

The work-from-home revolution is old news. But are Americans so tired of waking up and signing into work bedside that we are ushering in the return-to-work revolution? Well, if it’s up to President Biden, we would already be along the way to a pre-pandemic 9-5, 5-day a week in-person office schedule. This month, his team called the return-to-office a “priority” and announced government agencies will now start enforcing a more aggressive in-person work schedule. In this article we cover the gradual resurgence of the office environment, and the irreversible and permanent transformations it's role has undergone. #CRE #Office #ReturnToOffice #CorporateRealEstate #TenantTips #TenantRep #OfficeSpace https://hubs.ly/Q01-GT7G0
