Delivers strategic advice and guidance, communication and engagement services, specialising in Aboriginal communities and social policy
Principles of good practice in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander research can be explored through four questions. 1. Who controls the research process? 2. Whose values determine how the research is done? 3. Who does the research benefit? 4. Who owns the new knowledge? Link in the comments to six core values shared by diverse Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities when in the research space. So much knowledge amongst Black spaces, practitioners, community members and academics that reinforce the collective strength we share in core principles for when this work is done well.

On November 15th, Professor Allyson Holbrook presented at IPCE’s Civic Engagement Lunch Talk series at the UIC Daley Library with "Public Opinion Surveys: Attitudes, Knowledge, Perceptions, and Beliefs". Dr. Holbrook and her team's research involved three studies to examine attitudes, knowledge, perceptions, and beliefs associated with public opinion surveys among adults. The studies included focus groups of Chicago residents to explore how they thought about public opinion surveys and their role in democracy. The second survey was a pilot test of measures to assess attitudes, beliefs, and knowledge about public opinion surveys. Finally, the third study involved measurement of attitudes, knowledge, and perceptions about public opinion surveys and included vignette experiments to assess how the characteristics of a survey affect perceptions of it. In this week's edition of Reflections, hear from Director of Creative Arts, Mr Andrew Pennay, with his reflection on creative problem-solving and the importance of subjective interpretation and collaboration in arts education. In this international conference 3 questions will be asked: 1.What is my place in the arts and culture? – Young people's questions about the impact of culture and the arts on the consolidation of democracy. 2.What can the arts do to educate for democracy? – Young people's questions about the impact of the arts and education on the construction of citizenship and the exercise of freedom. 3.Listening to young people: what do they propose and how can we do it together?
